    New and Struggling

Strict keto should help. Also intermittent fasting can help get some quick results. Although if doing any of this on gliclazide, you should definitely have medical supervision. If you get quick results you may need to adjust your meds go avoid dangerous hypos.

    What's the science on Stevia?

Does anybody know what the science says about the impact of stevia on insulin levels? I was listening to a podcast with Fung/Ramos, and one of them claimed "we all now know" that even though stevia doesn't increase glucose, it does raise insulin. But when I look for studies showing this one...

New study. Keto v low carb v low cal

I would say it's a moot question. You dont eat keto so you do eat carbs. If you stopped eating carbs you would possibly get mentally foggy while you adapted, but then you would be keto.

    Jardiance working ? Not sure

Most diabetic meds (jardience, metformin etc...) have a fairly modest effect on blood glucose. So if you take it and continue to live your life in the same manner that you did before your diagnosis, you can probably expect to see an initial improvement, a stabilization, and then a slow decline...

Symptoms due to going from high sugars to much lower sugars quickly

I get blurry vision when I make quick changes in either direction with my blood glucose. It takes a few weeks to settle out and I need to use reading glasses for all close work while I'm waiting for it to resolve.

    Sourdough Bread

I would love to know what you mean by this. Here's my experience so far: When I'm keto, I get fat-adapted, and I lose the cravings for most carbs. There are still cravings rooted in social and emotional reasons, but at least the physical is dealt with. When I am "keto-ish", I still have...

New study. Keto v low carb v low cal

More confirmation that keto outperforms moderately low carb and ERD. This is not surprising. No attempt to compare their version of keto to anyone else's. Maybe I'm a curmudgeon, but this seems like marketing more than science.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Yesterday: Breakfast: 2 egg omelet 1 avocado 1/4 of apple Lunch: 1 tomato 2 hot dogs (meat only) serving old cheddar Dinner: low-carb tacos (meat cheese and hot-sauce on lettuce wrap Macros: ??? I didn't log everything, but I am more than satisfied. FBG this morning: 6.1 Today: Nothing...

Newly diagnosed Type 2, need some suggestions and opinions please

Sorry about your diagnosis, and welcome to the group. If you are going to treat your diabetes with diet or lifestyle changes, then a meter and daily (or frequent) readings can help you assess how you're doing, what works, and what doesn't. If you are going to take your metformin, live your...

T2s: What was your fasting BG this morning, and what did you eat yesterday?

I eat potaotes lots of them

I love potatoes and I'm happy for you OP that you can enjoy them. But my goal is getting off meds, and I don't know of many success stories for reversing T2 that involve potatoes, smashed or otherwise. So good luck to you, but I'll have to be content with my cauliflower puree.

    Jogging/ Running app

I use Runkeeper and Strava intermittently. Runkeeper: A much more full-featured app. You can turn it on and run, but you can also pre-program intervals and things like that, and it can give you audio cues for the interval transitions. It's a really nice app. Good Apple Watch integration...

    Reversing T2 Diabetes

I will read this and thanks for posting. With regards to your comment 2, I don't think Fung has published anything academic that could be referenced. It appears he has done a lot of good work, but there's nothing rigorous.

    HbA1c confusion

Just to be clear, you're definitely talking about A1C, and there's no chance you are mistaking your fasting level for your hba1c? Your readings (7, 14 and 10) are plausible A1C values, but they are also a good fit for fasting glucose levels for someone with moderate diabetes. A1c of 14% is...

My eyesight has suddenly become awful

I have been through this a few times in the ups and downs of my journey. It usually takes a few weeks for my eyes to adjust. But as officer Lahey suggests, there are other possible (but less likely) causes so getting your eyes checked out is probably a good idea. The first time this happened...

The Doctor Phoned This Morning To Tell Me

I don't know much about declined kidney function, so please don't take this as medical advice. If my glucose readings were "too good" and I was taking gliclazide, my response would be to stop taking gliclazide, not to eat more carbs. I took gliclazide for a little while early on when my BG was...

    Getting dizzy

Quick google shows Bydureon can cause hypo, and dizziness. Possibly the dapagliflozin too. I would keep an eye on your BG and talk to your doctor about it.

A question about ketosis and hunger

@Newlysweet I'm not saying you are not keto adapted. I took your post to mean "hey I'm less hungry than I used to be and it's manageable". I have gone through periods of being well adapted, and periods where I've not done so well, and I don't think there was ever a time where I never feel...

A question about ketosis and hunger

My understanding is this. Once you are "keto adapted" fat is your primary energy source. When fat is your primary energy source, and you have lots of body fat, why would you feel hungry? When you are NOT keto adapted, your body has a hard time using stored fat, so when the sugar starts...
