WHICH FOODS ARE GOOD TO STOP HIGHER SPIKES GI WISE

I and many other have lost more than that and have not experienced that magic moment. I haven't given up hope - I do occasionally test what happens to my bg after a tightly controlled amount of carbs to see if things improve, and they haven't. I don't know if you are aware of where the '33lb'...

    Disgruntlement!

The only things that look suspicious in that lot are the 'nutty crackers' (unless that means they are made out of nuts rather than are wheat-based with nuts in), and the choc fat bombs, assuming the chocolate itself is at least 20% carbs. Also the sausages - some seem to have a lot more carbs...

I had to try that. I see what you mean :)

Would you book a holiday knowing your child may well be t1 by the time it comes round?

No, I'm pretty sure it's not just you. Not wishing to be flippant, but quite seriously, I think that a potential diagnosis of T1 is the least of this child's worries. Counselling has been suggested before, and that's really the best advice as far as I'm concerned.

Would you book a holiday knowing your child may well be t1 by the time it comes round?

Or the plane may crash on the way over. Or one of the rides may develop a fault. Or the ice-cream could have anthrax in it. Or world war 3 could break out while you are over there. You can choose to put the most positive or the most negative slant on anything. Put yourself in your child's...

Would you book a holiday knowing your child may well be t1 by the time it comes round?

If I was a young kid and had just been told I'd need to spend the rest of my life jabbing things into me and checking numbers, I think a trip to Disneyland would be just the ticket to cheer me up no end and show me that life keeps going on and can be filled with fun things just like anyone else's.

Guardian: What is Britain eating? The ultra-processed truth about 10 of our bestselling foods.

I've only had 7 of those 10 things in the past so it could be worse. Of that lot, I only really miss the Fray Bentos pies, white bread, chocolate digestives, Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, Cherry Bakewells and milk chocolate. Fray Bentos pies were amazing. If you wanted to be really scummy /...

First 36 Hour Fast - Confused

That's good to hear, and well done you! Yes I've been reading a fair bit of Fung recently. He could do with pressing "spell check" occasionally but at least he makes a lot of sense :)

First 36 Hour Fast - Confused

I can relate to some of that. I get the all-or-nothing thing when it comes to what I would call "toy foods", i.e. foods which give a lot of immediate gratification because they taste so nice. I've realised I can't "classify" the type of foods that have that effect on me. It's not just carby...

First 36 Hour Fast - Confused

I find that during walking and most exercise I lose my appetite. But if I have a big day of walking, it increases my appetite in the next day or two. Good to hear that fasting gets easier, as I am currently working out a plan to try for a month and it involves a lot of fasting! I know what you...

I'VE OBSERVED QUITE A RANGE OF FBS FOR PEOPLE. DOES IT ALWAYS REFLECT ON HOW LOW CARB THE PERSON IS?

I forgot to give the context to my own observations: I'm talking about lowering fasting blood glucose from a chronically unsafe 9.5 down to much safer levels around 5. Right now I'm a textbook Newcastle study participant in terms of weight (~100kg), years since diagnosis (~4) and fasting blood...

I'VE OBSERVED QUITE A RANGE OF FBS FOR PEOPLE. DOES IT ALWAYS REFLECT ON HOW LOW CARB THE PERSON IS?

100% of the time I've put this to the test I get the same result: to within a very large range of calories and carbs, calories consumed during the day affect my fasting bg levels the next morning far more than carbs. Last year I did all sorts of experiments trying to work out how my body worked...

First 36 Hour Fast - Confused

Thanks. I have to admit I am still quite pleased about it a few days later! I know what you mean about both the work thing and the being at home next to the fridge thing! I couldn't do my job (which is purely mental problem solving while sitting in front of a computer) properly the way my head...

    Blood Pressure medication

Well done @archersuz! An amazing milestone with the meds. I'm also excited about your continued weight loss. I can't wait till next winter, to find out how many more layers you can wear while still occupying the same external volume :)

    Worried about husband

I haven't read through all the posts, so these may already have been suggested: It seems a psychological problem, probably denial as suggested. Have you told him you want the man you married back? Have you tried both the extreme negatives (what will happen if he doesn't change and how soon it...

    Daily Mail article on me

I'm so sorry about what happened to your husband. Re the article, I was a bit worried after your warning about scars but I have to say the pics are beautiful on many levels. Also very brave and must have been very liberating. I know the message of the article is to inspire women to demand the...

Type 2 Diabetes Procrastination is OVER

I was getting 16s regularly last year. Highest measured last year was 19.5 when I started to take it seriously. As you're hearing, people have been even higher then managed to turn it around amazingly well. Based on what you say about diet and joining a gym, my own experience is that diet is...

CAN I PLEASE ASK HOW EXERCISE EFFECTS PEOPLE'S BS

Haha! Now people reading this are going to be very concerned. They'll think a dirty old man really HAS sent a PM with his address asking a woman to send him her old bras! Oh, the scandal! I would like it known that I would never dream of doing that. eBay is a much better source!

    Type 2 Bread?

If you want to abstain from bread altogether (and some people would say it isn't very filling anyway), then with a salad, not a bad option is chicken, especially fatty chicken. I'm trying to get a taste for salads, and I find not a bad option is to get some cooked chicken thighs (specifically...
