    Nearly ditched pump tonight!

Unfortunately I don't find her especially helpful. I am due to see her on 18th June (had to cancel this months appt due to work thinking they'd give me one the following week as opposed to over a month later). I might call her tomorrow, though.

    Nearly ditched pump tonight!

Earlier this evening I was literally going to disconnect from this pump and use my injections again. Second time within the six weeks of having it I've had to cancel plans in the evening because of unexpected high levels. First time was down to a bent cannula, this time, no idea. Changed my...

    First day of pump

I was advised to cut my normal dose in half. I used to take mine before bed, so still took it at the normal time, just 50% less. Your DSN should advise of and of course, if she doesn't, just ask :)

    Appearance of the Insulin Pump

Yeah, I don't mind anyone seeing it whatsoever. I work in a very inclusive environment, so it never in million years be a problem there. Outside of work, no, not bothered to have it out in the open, so to speak :)

    Why am I tired?

I've always been a tired person since a teen and way before I became T1. I honestly can't last a day without an afternoon or early evening nap. I work part-time and have two half days off, which sounds great to have a couple of free afternoons but it is a total waste of time as I just come home...

First night attached to the pump

Thank you very much for that Donnelly!! I have one of those velcro pouch straps that I have only worn around my leg so far. I have tried it around my arm with the pump inside (prior to being attached) and it seems very convenient, but then I was indoors and wearing with short sleeves, so...

    Quick Question: Basal or Bolus?

Sorry, I mentioned this in my second post. 0.30 is one of my three basal rates. This was brought down from 0.35 by my endo last Tuesday who noticed a pattern of mid evening hypos. I haven't changed my bolus ratio. A few tweaks went on in the first week of the pump but my ratios have stayed the...

    Quick Question: Basal or Bolus?

I increased my (6pm-12am) ratio from 0.30 to 0.32 and hey presto.... a hypo at 8pm  To be fair I may have over-estimated the carbs in my meal. I leave it as it is and see what happens tomorrow. Thank you Donnelly. I haven' done any basal testing yet, but am planning to within the...

First night attached to the pump

Yes, if you could post some pics that would be great. I don't mind my pump showing but I'm not keen on it clipped to the outside of my trousers just as it seems very easy to knock it or catch it on something (I tend to bump into things, ha ha). I have tried clipping it on the inside but felt and...

First night attached to the pump

I really want to try mine on my arm but how does this work with your clothing? I just figure it will be this cumbersome bulk. It's too much bulk for me when i have it clipped to trousers that have no pockets. I imagine would be OK with baggy type of clothing or can it work if clothing is more...

    Quick Question: Basal or Bolus?

Ah, OK, I understand what you mean. So it will be that 6pm-12am period I would need to consider. Thanks for your time :)

    Quick Question: Basal or Bolus?

Thank you very much, noblehead! I currently have three different basal rates. My highest is my overnight one at 0.37 (from midnight to 6.30am), I then go to 0.35 (6.30am to 6pm) then finally 0.30 (6pm-midnight). The last one was suggestion by my consultant as I had a tendency to hypo between...

    Quick Question: Basal or Bolus?

Hi, for the past couple of day my BG levels have been brilliantly stable, so something is obviously working right. Example yesterday; Breakfast - 8.9 Lunch - 9.0 Dinner - 8.6 Bed - 8.6 Today (so far); Breakfast - 8.9 Lunch - 9.9 Dinner - 9.9 Now they're consistent but just that bit higher...

    Insulin Pump

I've only been on my pump for a little over 3 weeks, but just some initial thoughts; Pros Very convenient method of delivering insulin. Bolus wizard feature (gives dosage suggestion based on correction and/or active insulin and works it all out for you). Ability to temporary increase of reduce...

    Breast Augmentation

I think you should be testing your BG daily (esp if you plan on surgery). If on the days you don't test, your BG is randomly very high, how are you to know to correct, etc?

Different settings, i.e work days and days off, etc

Just wondered if people tended to have different settings for when they are in work and then when they are off? I work part time ~ I have 4 days in work and 3 days off. However, as I work in education, I also have all the holidays. I've only been on the pump 3 wks (the first 2 wks I was off...

    Slimming world and hypo

Understand about your hypos. I've had 11 in the last 3 and half days and it's knackering me. My basal is down to 0.35 today and I had still a hypo earlier. I was off work for the past 2 weeks and the gentleness of my daily routine saw me with BG's in the 5-7 range almost daily. Now back at work...

Ah, right, thank you for that, novo :) That's helped me understand it a bit better.

    Medtronic Bolus Wizard Question

It's 4.5 Yeah, that's what I figured but then my nurse said I should take that into account when doing my next bolus and knock that amount off.

    Medtronic Bolus Wizard Question

Hi I've tried it twice now, and it could just be that I'm not understanding it correctly, but here's an example; ratio - 1:10 BG - 5.8 carb - 50g correction - 0 active ins. - 1.0 est bolus - 5.0 So, shouldn't it have suggested 4.0 if I still had 1u IOB? It did the same thing earlier in the...
