    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

It's difficult to see where and how I'm consuming too many carbs. I'm not on a keto diet but I eat no UPFs, no fast food, no takeaways, no potatoes,no bread, no rice,. no pasta, no cakes, no biscuits, no cookies, no potato chips, no sweets (candy). I never drink sodas. I minimise fruits and...

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

There will always be outliers, the data and conclusions on blood sugar aren't immutable unlike the laws of physics. I've learnt that my Triglycerides to HDL ratio isn't what I thought it was, although its still below the threshold used to determine insulin resistance. I'm going to try and...

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

Thanks, that's great detective work and counterintuitive that different units changes the ratio. I'm struggling to work out how that happens and I'll read a little more about it. Nevertheless, my ratio of 2.3:1 still doesn't seem to indicate insulin resistance. In this study...

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

I think all the ranges and classifications are based on data and more often than not distribution graphs. Perhaps there are a few outliers at either end that seem to defy the norms i.e. those with low blood sugar but have other symptoms of metabolic syndrome and those with elevated blood sugar...

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

I had the scan in London. I've had to dig around in the report for those data. Android to Gynoid ratio 1. In the 13th centile for visceral fat (low is good). Visceral fat area 95 cm² ( below 1 is good).

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

RBC completely normal. I did have an oral glucose test about 2 years ago when I was a volunteer participant in a medical trial. A doctor researching for a PhD recruited a small # of prediabetic men of which I was one. I don't have the numbers but I do recall that she was confounded by my blood...

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

None, nothing at all. Good BP, height to waist< 2, low CRP, visceral fat low, high muscle mass. Thanks

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

I've never had a post meal reading either above 8 or more than 2 greater than before eating, My body seems to have no problems managing blood sugar. I already eat very few carbs.

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

I'm drinking small cups, the milk content is very low and full fat. It's far from a milky drink like a latte. I worked it out, a small cappuccino with 85ml of milk is 4 mg of carbs. So I'm getting 8 mg daily from milk.

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

I haven't seen a doctor in several years. I had a blood test last year at my request, since then I've paid for another HbA1c and the CRP. I'm 66 and have no health issues, zero stress and I sleep great. When I got the first HbA1c results I was called by the practice diabetes nurse, who told me...

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

Most days I drink 2 small double shot cappuccinos and that's it. Very occasionally 3. Never after about 3 p.m. Thanks

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

I had my CRP level checked and that's in the basement at 2.1. Ifs a marker for inflammation and elevated in pre-diabetes. Also, if I were exercising too much there would most likely be higher CRP. Thanks

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

My understanding is that the ratio between triglycerides and HDL is a good proxy/surrogate for insulin resistance. My ratio is 1 (both are 1.4), which suggests I have good sensitivity to insulin. My fasting glucose morning prick tests are normally in the range 6 to 6.4, perhaps a little on the...

Interpretation of BG prick test results

Today I ate the same lunch as yesterday, at about the same time but I ate protein first before the carbs i.e. greek yoghurt with keto granola then the corn on the cob and a raw carrot. My BG readings today were 6.4 immediately before eating and 5.2 two hours later. Another occasion on which my...

Interpretation of BG prick test results

Thanks for the replies. I don't feel any anxiety, just trying to understand what's happening with my BG. My first meal of the day is lunch, before I ate my BG was 6.1. I ate in this order a large corn on the cob (boiled) with butter along with a large raw carrot. Then I had a portion of greek...

Interpretation of BG prick test results

I'd never heard of the 'dawn phenomenon' and decided to test and see if this is what's happening to me. At 3 a.m., my BG was 6.5, I got up at 8 a.m. and it was 6.1. I normally get up at 7 a.m. so I'll test again tomorrow in case my BG had dropped this morning.

Do you suggest then waiting after I get up before testing? For how long?

Interpretation of BG prick test results

The meal in question where I recorded pre and post results of 6.1 and 5.7 was two toasted slices of rye and dark wheat sourdough bread, with tomato puree spread instead of butter and three fried eggs. I can't think of any reason for my liver to have been dumping glucose, it was just a normal...

Interpretation of BG prick test results

I'm hoping that someone may be able to explain the significance of these results. Immediately before eating 6.1, two hours later 5.7. Thanks

Interpretation of BG prick test results

I'm recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes having had a Hba1c result of 47. I bought a prick tester and used it for the first time today on waking, after 12 hours of fasting it was 6,5. This afternoon I tested immediately before exercising (5k on a RowEreg) and it was 5.5 three hours after eating...
