I'm one of those affected (badly), I just wondered if the boxes will be labelled somewhere mentioning the new adhesive.

Abbott To Revise Adhesive on Freestyle Libre from April 2019

Just been sent this by a colleague. It mentions that Abbott are reformulate the adhesive on the Freestyle Libre patches, possibly due to the sheer amount of people that have a bad reaction to their current adhesive ...

Freestyle Libre Poll - Have you had a skin reaction ?

I tried the barrier sprays like Cavillon etc, but made absolutely no difference for me, so I'm still getting the "burn" marks like I've been poked with a hot cattle prod which take ages to heel.

    Libre app without reader

Yes it will work fine with just the app. You can start/activate the sensor with the app to, so no need for the official reader.

    Freestyle libre coverings/stickers/skins

Libre's don't stick to my skin that well even when using skin tac wipes etc. The only thing that keeps mine in place is the kinesiology tape which you can get quite cheap on ebay.

    Most annoying things about Diabetes

Yes, also the fact when your sugar goes high you can't eat because you are waiting and waiting and waiting for your sugar level to drop. Another one to the list, work colleagues who don't give you 5 minutes to 'sort yourself out' whilst your doing blood tests, carb counting, putting your...

    Most annoying things about Diabetes

No two days being the same. One day my insulin seems to work rather to well, the next day doesn't seem to work at all.

    Exercise

Like you, I exercise a lot and constantly found it frustrating that the libre wouldn't stay on. I've tried various different things to keep it in place, but the only thing that has worked so far is 'rock tape' which I got a lot cheaper from ebay. Position wise is tough though especially if you...

How Many Years Of Rollar Coaster Blood Sugars Could You Have Before You Get Complications ?

Haha! Thanks, yes been diabetic since I was 3 so don't know anything different really. As for the medal, it's from the Ride London, my dog comes with me when I go out on the bike, so thought I might as well take her on the Ride London cycle. She just sits and admires the scenary though[emoji1]

How Many Years Of Rollar Coaster Blood Sugars Could You Have Before You Get Complications ?

To be honest between 7s and 13s is not that bad, I think it's more to do with how long your sugars stay high etc that causes the long term problems. I've been Type 1 diabetic for 42 years and never managed to keep my sugar levels at the holy grail of flat(ish) line level as there is soooo many...

    Type 1 Hypo Treatment

Another thing to take into account (as if Type1's don't have enough to think about!) is after excercise, your metabolism is higher, thus you may need more carbs after excercise to get your levels right (I do, but everyone is different) Are you on multi daily injections (MDI's) or a pump? With...

    Type 1 Hypo Treatment

I would firstly look at your insulin levels to prevent the hypos, then maybe look at having a drink during the excercise. I do spinning classes and have a diluted Emerge isotonic drink (cheaper version of lucozade sport) during the class which helps keep my sugar levels stable(iish). As for low...

Freestyle Libre Poll - Have you had a skin reaction ?

I had a break from the Libre due to constant scan errors, bad adhesion (everyone fell off) and basically became disillusioned with them. I reapplied one and again after 10 days it came unstuck, despite using Cavilon spray and also Skintac wipe. The picture is the result of 10 days use....

    Medical Id - Bracelet/necklace

I wear a Onelife ID wristband which is laser engraved with my name, insulin and emergency contact number. I have it with the silicon wristband, but they do other ones as well. They also do the medical alert cards with the QR codes on them. It's really robust as I have it on me all day and you...

    Freestyle Libre Sensor

Just to clarify, you can't just go to any Superdrug, you can only get them from ones with a pharmacy in them,so make sure it has one before heading out.

Disillusioned & Giving Up On The Freestyle Libre...

Thanks @Juicyj and @porl69 . I have used the Cavlon spray previously, but unfortunately it didn't make any difference and still made my skin look like I had been stamped by a hot iron. When I mention the sensors not loading correctly, I mean into the applicator device that is used to apply the...

Disillusioned & Giving Up On The Freestyle Libre...

Hi @Juicyj Yes, I did argue my case about the failure of their product and the how bad it is that they came off after a while. The person I spoke to was adamant that I wasn't entitled to a replacement for another 3 months. I said that it was ridiculous that I have purchased their product, which...
