    Support

Firstly, I'm glad she advised you to join this site, but secondly I'm appalled how little time was spent explaining what effect diabetes can and will have on your life. To be sent away to basically get on with it is just simply wrong. I don't know if it has changed since I was diagnosed back in...

    First Libre Help

I personally attach a new sensor 2-6 hours prior to the current sensor ending. It just seems to have more consistent readings when started. I had major issues with my S20+ when the OS was updated and I lost all the Libre 2 alarms on my phone. Abbott sent me detailed instructions on how to...

    Eggs just caused a spike!

I would be absolutely swinging from the rafters with joy if my BG was 8.8. Struggling to get insulin doses correct when you are on chemo drugs and your GP throws 2 more drugs at you that you find spike BG is certainly testing. Oh, and then allow for the carbs in each meal just to keep you on...

    Everything going wrong

My whole world crashed in on me 5 years. I had been diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension back in 2006, and they were very well controlled. My eyes were constantly monitored yearly, as I was a HGV driver and required the very best vision that was available to me with or without spectacles...

Looking to replace the Carbs & Cals app

Hello everyone, Having been advised by my diabetes team some years ago to purchase the Carbs & Cals book, which I duly did, I backed it up by downloading and paying for the app. It came in handy, especially when I was dining out or dining at friends or family. Over the last few months, more if...

    NHS won't help

I'm fuming for you! What kind of help is, "If you weren't checking, you wouldn't know". My long term diabetes nurse left my GP practice about 6 years ago, and there was no one to replace her. No, I couldn't believe it either. I asked my GP practice how on earth they were going to monitor and...

Smartphone issue with using Libre 2

My Samsung S20 plus will only scan from the back, as that's where the sensor is positioned. It's the same on my older Samsung S9 too.

    treating a hypo

So far, all of my hypos have been during the night. However, I take my phone to bed (do not disturb on, Libre app allowed) and my low alarm warning is set to 5.0. On this setting it gives me a chance to head off a hypo. When I go have a low reading, or a hypo, I have a ham and salad cream...

    Libre alarms not working.

I understand and appreciate what you are saying, it just seemed to be too much of a coincidence that the issues I started experiencing directly followed the last update of my phone. When I was first received my Libre 2 I was only supplied with a single sensor and no reader, so had no choice...

Not such a happy new year.

I had my first hypo in a long time between Christmas and New Year. I woke up feeling really rough, shivery and shaky, as my Libre 2 alarm had not woken me. I got up and made myself a ham and salad cream sarny, grabbed a glass of milk, and followed that with 2 fruit chews, and my BG popped up to...

    Managing type1 and cancer

I'm type 2 with myeloma cancer. Being diabetic when I was diagnosed with myeloma was one of those moments when you throw your hands up and ask yourself, "How am I going to manage these two at the same time", especially after I heard what they were going to bombard my body with, chemotherapy...

    Pain

I would suggest your first port of call would be your GP. There could be various reasons for your foot pain, and each my have a different solution. In answer to your question tho, yes you can have an injection into your foot. My wife did for "Policeman's Heel".

    Freestyle libre 2 problems

I too have being having issues with the Libre app. Well at first I thought it was the Libre app. It has worked pretty much flawlessly for me for just over a year now. I have my alarms set as follows. Low Alarm 5.0, High Alarm 15 and Signal Loss Off. The signal loss alarm was a complete pain. It...

Can you recyle test strip pots

We put them out with the plastic recycling. However, my wife uses them for craft supplies, and I use some to sort and hold pellets for when I'm target shooting.

    Gastric Band Surgery

I know 3 people who have had this surgery, and it has worked for all 3 of them. Of the husband and wife partnership, who have both had this surgery, the wife lost 5 stone and the husband lost 11.5 stone. The husband has maintained the 11.5 stone weight loss, but his wife has put 2 stone back...

    Diabetes and ED

Initially my ED was as a result of my diabetes. 100mg sildenafil worked very well for me, until I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The Sildenafil continued to work at first, despite the chemotherapy. However, as time has gone on, the changes in chemotherapy (on my third different regime)...

    Semaglutide shortage.

I would suggest that if you are unable to get a prescribed medication, and haven't been able to do so for some time, then visit your GP or other health professional who prescribed the Semaglutide and get their advice on how to proceed safely.

    Often low, never high

I am a type insulin dependant diabetic. I was lucky enough to receive a Libre 2 CGM to monitor my BG. It is my understanding that most, if not all, CGM's record lower than the actual reading when BG is going low. For this reason I have set my Low Glucose Alarm at 5.0. If I receive a Low...

    Indecision over Atorvastatin

I was prescribed simvastatin when I was diagnosed with type 2 back in September 2006. As I recall I never had any issues whilst I was prescribed it. When I was in Kings in 2019, having my Auto SCT, they stopped my simvastatin, my hypertension medication, and one other than I can't recall just...

    Hypos type 2

Checking my Libre app, the lowest setting that can be set for a "Low Glucose Alarm" is 3.3mmol/L. I have mine set for 5.0mmol/L. This gives me enough time to double check with a finger prick, and if confirmed low, I have time to do something to prevent a hypo.
