    testing 'diet drinks' for sugar.

I was out last night and had my tea, had the correct insulin, 3 diet cokes, danced for 2 hours to blur and my BS was 13 which at the moment is very high for me as I very prone to having hypos as I am pregnant. The only thing I can think of is that may be a diet coke wasn't a diet coke. I must...

'Discussion' with my doctor about glucose testing

I have been diagnosed for about 2 years and have had very erratic sugars due to me still honeymooning. My nurse said that 4 times a days is helpful for keeping good control, and to test at other times e.g feeling hypo if required. At 1 point I was tesing at least 8 times a day and it did become...

    Employment and Diabetes

Hi, my experience is the complete opposite. As I was diagnosed during pregnancy, it was a complete shock to me and talking about it to colleagues really helped. I found out that there were others in the office with type 1 also, who I did not know about. I think my colleagues have been really...

How little insulin is too little?

I have done a couple of days on the lower dose, but had to up my novorapid at tea to 4/5 so only a little bit. My day readings have been more stable. so will see how I get on over the weekend. It has been nice to read in this thread that there are a few of us out there who only need small doses.

How little insulin is too little?

Hi Jessie I am not supposed to be snacking, as I am supposed to be keeping my BS below 6 before meals, if I snack I get a higher reading which means my consultant will want to up my doses, but that makes me either hypo or eat more. So I try and treat each hypo as they happen. I have been to the...

Re-using needles / changing injection location

Your needles are free so I use a new one each time. I have reused on 1 occassion when out and had not replenished my stock, but would not make a habit of it, surely there is an increased risk of infection. In relation to injecting through my clothes, I like to know where I am injecting and if...

    is there anyone out there

Hi, I also started looking at this forum when diagnosed with type 1 and it made me more aware of how carbs affect me and how much I was eating, but decided that low carb is not for me and since food is like a minefield anyway with diabetes decided just to be sensible and still enjoy my meals. I...

    Flying with Insulin and needles

Just came back from (thurs) and flew with Easyjet, their policy on the internet states that as a diabetic you can carry your 'stuff' without need for a letter, but my consultant gave me one free of charge anyway, they were more concerned about any fluids you might be carrying.

    Travel insurance

I have put a request for insurance through to the last stage and it asks you, do you have any illnesses you wish to cover and I put type 1 diabetes which it found ok and the quoted me including this 'illness'. So i would have thought that would be me covered?? Don't want to pay out and not be...
