Going abroad for the first time as type 1.

I am going away in May and was after advice from others who have travelled as type 1. How do you carry insulin/needles on the plane, do i have to inform the airline first?? And any advice that I might not have thought of will be really useful. Thanks

    humlin S

Have been using this for 5 days now and it seems to be working better than the novorapid did, I am getting more stable lower BS levels and I am not suffering with highs 3,4,5 hours after eating like I had been. Feel a lot happier this week.

    humlin S

I have just been moved from Novorapid to Humlin S, due to me being a crazy honeymooner whos own insulin just won't quite give up and Novorapid is just a bit to rapid for me and was wondering how people 'get on' with this insulin, any side effects etc or any thing I should know about?

how much insulin to take to correct a high.

I took 2 units at BS of 22.5 and 3 hours later I was at 6.0 and thought that was a big drop for small amounts of insulin, but then I do seem to be very sensitive to insulin as I am still honeymooning.

3rd person in my family has been diagnosed with type 1

So its not just my family then. We don't seem to have other complications running through the family. I have had the anti body test when I was first diagnosed and it came back with type 1, thats why I am being treated with insulin. My other cousin, the youngest one has never honeymooned and we...

    taking meds

I had this test done at boots along with a normal test and it was all for free. They gave me the results in minutes, better than the 6 weeks the NHS test took.

3rd person in my family has been diagnosed with type 1

Until 2 1/2 years ago no one in my family had diabetes, now me, and my 2 cousins have all been diagnosed with type 1. Me first (age 27) my cousin( age 24) and my older cousin (age 28). I find it amazing how quick it has happen. I did not think that type 1 ran in families. Has this happened to...

    first injection, please help

I was scared at the idea of doing 4 injections a day, but the freedom this gives is fantastic, it means that you are not bound to meal times etc as strictly as you are on 2 injections. I wish I had known about this as soon as I was diagnosed.

    Anyone out there around 20ish?

Hi, I am 28 and been diagnosed for 21 months. I want to have good control now so that as I get older I hope that I can reduce the amount of complications we are prone too. I have a 19 month old little boy and he gives me all the hope I need.

Gestational Diabetes: glucose in urine but BSL low help!

how are you controlling the GD, I had GD and found my specialist midwife very helpful with any questions I had, you may want to discuss with them before you start worrying to much about it. Sorry I can't answer anything specific but would worry about giving you incorrect info.

    Bad news

Kate I had GD and used insulin from about 24 weeks, I know it was the best for me and my baby and god knows what would have happened without it? It is scary at first but the sooner you can accept it and understand its benefits the quicker it becomes part of the pregnancy. Ben was born 4 weeks...
