High BG levels, medication not working

Hi all. I have been telling my doctors for over a year now that my medication, Metformin and Gliclazide, have no effect on my BG levels. My BG levels are 15+ at all times and nothing lowers it. I have been referred to different doctors, all with the intention of getting me on insulin but none of...

    Fruit juice

Hi all, when I was first diagnosed I was told not to drink a particular fruit juice, I think because it affected the way Metformin worked, I can't remember if it was grapefruit or cranberry, anyone know?

    Metformin dosage

I have just had my 6 month check up and the diabetes nurse has cut my metformin from 2 500mg 3 times a day to just 4, even though my blood sugar control is poor, she said any more than 4 doesn't work, is this right?

    Liraglutide

Hello all, just been put onto Liraglutide for insulin resistance and it is working well so far, anyone else on it? What do you all think of the worrying info about it causing thyroid cancer?

When do you take it for the best results, as you start a meal or 20 mins or so before you eat?

    Bread

Why is it generally seen as being bad for diabetics? I personally find it has very little effect on by BG levels, I can eat 4 slices of toasted wholemeal bread and dont need to take any medication to keep by BG below 8.5

Just had my review and confused

Ive just had my review and a lengthy chat with the nurse and Im confused. Ive managed to get my hba1c down from 8 to 6 by changing my diet and excercising more. We were talking about maybe cutting Gliclazide out and only taking Metformin, I said that I am unable to keep my BG below 9 with just...

    Test Strips

I just got some on prescription, but my GP says this will be the last time. What is the logic behind this NHS decision? How are you supposed to know if your glucose levels go to high? When I attend my 6 monthly review, they do a fasting blood test, this is usually always low for me and seems...

    Carbs

Following on from my first thread about sugar, Ive been reading up on carbs in the diet section. If carbs raise glucose levels, why are they recommended as things to eat plenty of?I am looking at a dietary advice sheet given to me by my GP and it lists things like rice and pasta etc as being...

Should sugar raise blood sugar levels?

A daft question it may seem but Im finding that sugar doesnt raise my blood sugar levels at all, yet things Ive been told to eat that are good, such as rice or pasta, send my blood sugar levels through the roof. Im confused, any help appreciated
