    Carbs in couscous

I'm being thick here........ please help. The packet of couscous is 110g It says under the 'Great to Know' sectuion: Carbs per 100g: 27.5g Carbs per half pack: 38.5g. Now, a half packet is 55g? In which case carbs should be roughly 15g per half pack? (Ignore the rest of the ingredients...

    Grub available while out

Went to the cinema yesterday (first time for ages) and was frankly dismayed by all the junk food. The literally wasn't a single thing for me to eat. It was all just manufactured junk. In fact, my wife bought me a coffee, I asked for white, but instead of a White Americano, which is industrial...

    Glucose measuring watch

I wear a smart watch already, sleep, heart rate etc. But no glucose measuring. Anyone tried one of these These multi-function items probably compromise accuracy to some degree, but as an indication as an alternative to finger-pricking it may be worth a try? Any comments?

    Bruise after cramp

Bit unusual this one. I went for a tough walk, 1 1/2 miles up a steep hill, same back down. My thighs nearly cramped on the way up, but got back OK. Went out for lunch and has WAY too many carbs - I'm normally very careful. Later in the PM - huge cramps in both legs, one adductor repeated 3...

    Meal times

Here's an interesting idea, new to me anyway, although I'm sure others may have have come across it. I do low carb, 20 or 30g per day I would think that includes milk in coffee and my daily fix of peanuts. I also time-control eat by skipping breakfast (apart from a few brews). Lunch at 12-...

Dr Sten Ekburg on fruits for T2 diabetics

Here is another really good video By Dr Sten Ekburg (He's a former decathlete by the way!) There is some very encouraging news about some fruits, berries for example, towards the end. Again, none of this is set in stone, but it can be used to help you make up your own minds. One thing is that...

    Dr Michael Eades

Interesting post this week from Michael Eades. Diet, insulin sensitivity, low carb - all sorts. Well worth a read.

    Dr Sten Ekburg

Here's a You Tube video about saturated fat and carbs. But I think more than that he offers a good explanation of the effect fat and carbs have on us. I saw a thread about a lady struggling with Metformin and the advice given to try the low carb approach instead. Dr Ekburg is one of the...

T1 mentioned in Dr Campbell's most recent video

At around 11 minutes in he summarises T1 in relation to a report published by the Australian TGD (Therapeutic Goods Administration). I'd be interested to confirm or otherwise his summation by savvy T1s on here. It may be an interesting read for you particularly. Whatever, the whole video is...

    Type 3 / Type 3C

Just a subject for discussion here. I got to thinking after reading and participating another thread. It included the 'seriousness' with which people take our diabetes and food requirements. Here: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/eating-out-nightmare.195512/ Basically, pubs /...

    Genuine?

Is there an inordinate number of our Chinese friends interested in their diabetic wellbeing, or are there rogue elements afoot?

    Vitamin D

Here are links to 3 interesting pieces, 2 videos and a written article referencing Vitamin D. They are from sources that I follow and trust. All 3 can be added to your knowledge banks and help you make your own minds up. Vitamin D and Dementia Vitamin D and T2 Diabetes Vitamin D in General...

    Dr Tim Spector

Here's a very interesting interview with Tim Spector about diet, nutrition, exercise etc, etc. Diabetes is mentioned within but he is really advocating a personalised approach to diet / nutrition rather than a one-fits-all regime. Here. It's quite long but interesting.

    The real cost of medicine

I've consolidated my cynical streak over the past couple of years. Hardened by the shameful management of the 'vaccine' rollout, the truth about which is now beginning to emerge. Actually, the seeds of my cynicism were sown by you guys and gals on here when I started exploring treatment and...

Indication that low carb / keto may help against cancer too

Here's an interesting article to add to our knowledge-base. Not definitive of curse, but positive ideas for those of us who follow a low carb / fasting / healthy lifesyle regime

    Erythritol

Seen some positive reports on Erythritol from a Type 2 perspective. It would be nice to add another dimension to our cooking. Not over the top, just occasionally, to fruit for example.

    Socks again

I know that some of you don't believe the hype / worth / expense of specific diabetic socks, but........ .... my Mrs bought me 3 pairs a few months ago. They have been really good for me. My feet are a bit 'delicate'. Painful at times, particularly when walking cycling a decent distance. I've...
