    Strategies to help when shopping.

I'm a failure at resisting bad things when I shop. I usually shop online for groceries and I have no problem sticking to low carb food but occasionally have to nip to the shop and it always ends in disaster. Yesterday I had to go and get a couple of items and whilst there I bought a nice beef...

I’ve been invited to join this study by my GP practice. Has anyone else? This is what it says… “Discover Me is a nationwide research study that aims to analyse health and genetic information on thousands of people. The research aims to improve our understanding of many different diseases, and to...

    Accu chek monitor

Has anyone used an Accu-chek BG monitor? My friend who is a T1 said she highly recommends them. I use a Gluco Rx at the moment and wondering if I should change although I haven’t checked if there’s a price difference yet

Almond milk - always check the label!

Getting a sainsburys delivery today and they’ve emailed me to say they’ve substituted the Alpro almond milk for Sainsburys almond milk. A quick look on their website to check the ingredients before I accept the substitution and it has maltodextrin in it! So that’ll be rejected.

    ‘Stop Eating After 7pm’ Challenge

Who will join me? I intend to do this for the rest of January- 10 days and hopefully I’ll have broken the habit by then and carry on. I‘m not hungry, I suspect I’m bored and it’s becoming a habit. So I thought if there were a few of us that struggle with this it would be good to record our...

    Bored!

I feel my life is so boring right now. Same old routine, can’t do much at the moment as very painful lower back stenosis. Don’t sleep well because of the pain and not very hungry when it comes to meal times. That’s probably because I’m not active enough, catch 22! Yesterday I had some cheese and...

    Outrageous advice! IMO

Rant alert! I’ve just had a phone call from the GP to review my diabetes medication - Metformin 2000mg and Forxiga 10mg. We were discussing if I should take Sitagliptin as well. I said I was taking FBG readings and ideally want them in the 5s. Mine range between 7s (on a bad day) and 5s on a...

    GlucoRx Vivid Special Offer

A heads up that on the GlucoRx website they’re selling the GlucoRx Vivid Blood Glucose Meter and 100 x GlucoRx Vivid Test Strips for £7.93. And if you declare you’re a diabetic you’ll get the VAT off as well. Yes the P&P is £4.99 delivered by DPD but still a bargain I think.

    Shouldn’t be testing my BG!

This morning my GP told me I shouldn’t be testing my BG at home and should wait for the hba1c test that I have every 3-4 months! I told him that’s ridiculous and how am I going to know what food is spikes my BC and in the meantime I could be damaging my kidneys, liver and eyes. I phoned him...

Out with Forxiga (dapagliflozin) in with Sitagliptin!

Forxiga did wonders for lowering my BG from usually in 13s to 5s and 6s within a matter of days, I was ecstatic and all was well for the first 2 weeks then I got a thrush infection. No matter, I thought, they warned me this was a common side effect and the GP said just ring for medication to...
