    Pump trial next month

Best you choose yourself rather than go on someone else's recommendation. Why don't you discuss with the DSN/Consultant about the pro's & con's of each pump and then decide, ask them which pump has the best feedback form patients who use them.

    Background retinopathy.

Smoking is bad even if you don't have a life-long medical condition like diabetes, but smoking and diabetes is terrible combination and vastly increases the chances of diabetes related complications, I did once have an article saved in my favourites about it but can't seem to find it now...

    Energy "pick me ups"

Banana, that is what I eat when I need an energy boost, obviously you'd need to bolus but that shouldn't be a problem you @SamJermy87

Do you ever walk around the supermarket looking in peoples trollys?

People judging other people by the contents of their trolley need to get a life IMHO.

    Background retinopathy.

Understandably your shocked but try not to worry and see what is said at your next screening. Your doing everything right by controlling your bg levels, but also keep in check your bp and cholesterol too, for more info have a read of the following which contains some excellent advice on...

    Sugar testing

Pump says I'm testing 9 times on average. How much is too much, 20 times might be classed as excessive but it depends on what your trying to achieve by testing too much.

    Help! Butternut squash

I'm sure it is edible, soup is great as you can throw all sorts into it :) Not bad at all.

    Help! Butternut squash

You could skip the bolus dose and see what happens to your bg levels, with you being newly diagnosed and likely in the Honeymoon Period you may just get away with it. It's really trial & error, but by testing your postprandial bg levels you'll find the answer and will know for next time you...

    Understanding GI

No I don't think so, to find the answer why don't you do some basal testing, if your bg levels go up in the absence of food (and of course your bolus doses) then you'll know it's a basal issue.

    Tv Series and movies

Watching about 6 series at the moment, I've watched Trust Me and it's a great drama but obviously a bit far-fetched, hopefully it will be back for a second series but the only thing that might stop it coming back is the lead actor Jodie Wittaker, with her being the new Dr Who her work schedule...

    eye tests

Try not to worry @Tannith as the cataract surgery is quite painless and takes all of 15 mins and your back home the same day. The recovery time for the operation is about 4 week, it only takes this long as you have to administer anti-inflammatory and antibiotic eye drops to help with the healing...

    Great chocolate -

The OP has included the nutritional info in their post @kaylz91 Both flavours of the Montezuma's chocolate sound really nice, still say for value & quality you can't beat the brands in Aldi & Lidl (Moser Roth & J.D Gross).

    I've just done something stupid.

Well if you enjoyed it it was worth the hassle, at least next time you know you'll have to inject some insulin. Hopefully the reduction in your basal dose will keep your bg more steady, have a good weekend John and hope The Black Cats win at Hull.

Anyone else find certain newspapers reporting annoying?

In answer to your thread question @L3wisr the answer is No. The fact is the press and media as a whole often report wrongly on medical conditions............not just diabetes, life is too short to get frustrated and annoyed so skip by those stories :)
