    Concerned about kidneys

Oh Hana. I'm not strong, I did come back to edit to say at the beginning I was very worried but I thought what's the point, I'm 67 if the worst happens I want to enjoy my life while I'm feeling well. I was pre diabetic 17 years ago and have maintained normal blood sugar since, I've always had a...

    Concerned about kidneys

@Hana25 please try not to worry, my kidney function dropped 7 points in a few months recently to 67. My bloods are being retaken in 2 months. But I don't let it worry me as there's no point, all I can do is make sure my blood sugar and blood pressure have excellent control. Yes if things...

@IanBish , did you give up caffeine completely for that week?

    Overactive Bladder

I had this, my sympathies it is horrid. I resolved mine by giving up caffeine plus I can't even drink decaffeinated coffee, that sets it off too. Also my home made kefir. I know you said its not caffeine but I found it took about a month of no caffeine to go completely. I'm OK with a few drinks...

The role of exercise - how important for weight loss?

I don't need to lose weight however I can eat more when I exercise a lot. Just come back from a week's hill walking where I eat more than usual and had a glass of wine in the evening. No weight gain at all.

    Travel insurance.

My husband and I have travel insurance through Philip Williams insurance brokers. Although I'm not diabetic (was pre diabetic and have maintained normal blood glucose ever since) I have other medical conditions. Prices are very good and we have claimed twice over the years with no issues. I've...

    Travel insurance.

I've noticed at this year's renewal that travel insurers medical underwriters are now adding if you've visited the gp for anything in the past 12 months in addition to everything else! Make sure you declare everything. On a second point I don't know why this forum bans recommendations. It's...

    Kidney function

Thank you both for your comments. I'm 67 so I agree it's expected for my kidney function to decline due to age, however it was the fact it went down quite rapidly in 3 months. I've spoken to my gp after my January blood test, appointment booked re the current test on the 16 May. I have a very...

    Kidney function

Hi, I had pre diabetes in 2009, I asked for a test as I had lots of symptoms. By low carbing I've kept normal readings ever since. But it's hard work, I never go off the rails, my blood sugar goes up. Well now my kidney function is going down, it was 86 in nov23, 74 in January now 67. I've got a...

Has anyone gone from long-standing Type 2 diabetes - say 20 years - to remission/ reversal?

@KennyA that's appalling your gp never said your blood sugar was high. My gp actually phoned me to say I had impaired fasting glucose, what pre diabetes was called in 2008. I asked for the test due to various symptons combined with a family history of diabetes. He phoned me as he was so...

    Pre-diabetic

I was pre diabetic 15 years ago, I've maintained normal bg levels every since. I bought a blood sugar monitor and tested before and after everything I ate. This way I found out what put my blood sugar up high. For me losing weight and exercise made no difference, it was all about the diet. I...

    Abbotts Lifestyle Libre 2

I'm just on a free trial of the libre 2 and I've found it very inaccurate when checking it against a finger prick tester. The only thing it's helped is with showing me which meals have the highest spikes. So I'll test these with my monitor. Mine reads lower consistently. so I think the risk is...
