    How do you do yours?

Have to say I feel like I am very slapdash in my approach compared to many of you! It takes me a couple of minutes and is done when convenient. Yesterday I was changing a set while getting dressed, putting makeup on and eating breakfast in a mad rush to get out the door to work!

    How do you do yours?

My set changes are far more haphazard! They tend to happen after a bath but I remove the old one before the bath so I can have a proper scrub set free!!!! They are also usually after dinner and before bed,not ideal granted but I haven't had any major problems. I have to say though I almost resent...

    Thirsty but not high

No reasons why but I get exactly the same. In fact it happened today and blood sugar didn't go above 6.8. It's very strange and not very pleasant!

    Which infusion set?

Well my BMI is 21 and the mio works well on the little bit of 'squidge' I have on my belly! lol. I have tried a silhouette once and didn't like it but I think we all have different preferences. I would ask for samples of all the different ones and go from there. Good luck :-)

Trying low carb on pump - having a Mare!

I recently discovered that I can't eat gluten so generally eat a low carb diet. I have found that I still need insulin for even a purely protein mean or blood sugars climb rapidly! It is still sort of trial and error but generally take about 1.5 units for a protein based breakfast/lunch e.g...

    Which infusion set?

The mio has its own individual inserter attached to the infusion set. It means that the set doesn't get squashed in the bottom of your handbag and the inserter never gets sticky! It is a very similar system but the mio inserter is not reusable. If you go on the medtronic website you can see a...

    Which infusion set?

I started with the quicksets but had issues with the inserter so have changed to the mio's. Haven't really had any problems apart from one dodgy batch! I am lean to average build and do lots of walking, cycling and running.

More questions about pumping with Medtronic

I use the contour and love it, yes it is bigger but worth it. I went back to my one touch for a while and was forgetting to enter the blood sugars that I tested when I wasn't eating a meal. When I got my pump you automatically got the contour in the box with a few strips, so I would probably...

    Medtronic Veo and Quickset problems

I had problems with the quickset inserter, it was making the cannula go in funny and bend. I started to do manual insertion which worked far better but also use the mio sets which are good because they come with a built in insertion thing and don't get crushed in your bag!

    Advice for new pump user

Hello It is really easy to use, there are features that are a little more complicated but you dont need to worry about these initially. I had already got my HbA1c down to a good level from 14.9 by doing DAFNE but I was having way too many hypos. The pump has sorted that and I wouldn't go back to...

    Shaving the belly ?

Try the liftplus it's brilliant. I had exactly the same problem and iHs recommended it. Googled, sent for free trial which I'm still using 3 months later. Dr has said he will issue me with a prescription when I need more. I was allergic to the cavillon spray unfortunately

    Fasting.....

Hi Deb I completely agree fasting is hell! I need to do mine again as I know my basals aren't right but just can't bring myself to do it. Running after 30 kids all day and no food is a bad combination lol

15 year old not taking insulin

Well when I was 15 - yes! Now with the pump I am far better behaved  I do still take my insulin at meals and have a rough guess at the carbs. Prepump I didn't bother and ran in the 20s most of the time. I have almost completely reversed from my previous attitude of I don't care to uber...

15 year old not taking insulin

I really hope you can help him through this phase, and I;m sure that's all it is. Just wanted to say that he is not alone in rebelling against the condition and I don't think that gets easier with age!

15 year old not taking insulin

I have to say I can completely understand where he is coming from. I am 26 and have been diabetic for 16 years, I am now on a pump and worked really hard to get HbA1c down from 14.8 last January to 6.9. However I still rebel! Went to see DSN last week for a review and I told her I was having an...
