Hi Everyone, 4years into Type2 and recently I have been taken off insulin completely and replaced by metformin and semaglutide 14mg tablets and for some reason my bottom feet have started to dry up and crack. Just wondered whether this is normal as not happened before and what do people use to help prevent the feet getting worse / sore?

Thanks again.

You need to visit a pharmacy. For feet that are already cracked, purchase Heal Repair Foot Cream.
For prevention, you need to moisture your feet every day with some foot cream.
There are lots of different makes to choose from.

How cracked are your feet? Just on the surface into the calluses, or is it going into live flesh underneath? Might make a difference in what kind of cream to use, and what footbaths to soothe it. (Open wound or no, you know?) I personally swear by a medically certified pedicurist to keep my feet from falling off. But yeah, keeping it clean and hydrated (cream once or twice a day) would be a good step, but get a doc involved if you feel pain or throbbing, just in case it's infected and you need an antibiotic cream, ureum cream that is stronger than the over-the-counter stuff, or further treatment. Also, if you wear flipflops or something, make sure you switch to something that doesn't "slap" your heel as you walk, because that makes is sooooo much worse. (Really. It makes such a difference...) All in all, don't muck about with it on your own, ask someone for advice who knows how to treat a cracked and possibly open heel.

You do need to get them checked to be on the safe side.
I have products I alternate between Flexitol Heel Balm which can be used cracked feet too the other Hydromol which can be bought online I believe.
I would get your feet checked before hand just to make there's no infection lurking.

Moisturise feet Is important , I am a below knee amputee so keeping both my foot and my stump is essential I put baby oil in my bath consequently my podiatrist is constantly commenting on the condition of my foot and stump,if the oil is good enough for a babys bum it’s good enough for me
