Type 1 diabetes and its effect on relationships

there is more of a comparison to losing a loved one and a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes then a lot of people realise. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes back in 1972 and in the first 2 weeks post diagnosis i attended 10 full time days of education on living with type 1. One of the main things i...

    Omnipod dash

this is really difficult to give a good answer ----- my only thought is to keep records of sugar levels on different areas of the body and set basal rates that sort of match up --- so if thighs aren't brilliant set basal rates slightly higher and if stomach sites are sensitive change to a...

    51years type 1

i have to disagree with you on what is more important in terms of management of type 1 diabetes.....the HBa1C standard has been around for over 20 years and is a fairly rough monitor of glycaemic control ---- people with lack of management that is barely in control with loads of spiking and...

Who here can eat Indian food without issues?

the high fat and protein in an Indian meal will have an affect on your blood sugars long after a 4 hour bolus dose ... for me i do a split and usually add a 3rd dose as well ---- getiing the timings and the exact dosing is a bit of trial and error but i am able to eat this food and not go out of...

    dawn phenomenon

could i ask if you are using pens ( MDI ) or a pump ? i used to have dawn phenomenon when i was on MDI ( multiple daily injections) but after switching to a pump i was able to tailor my basal rates and avoid this. If you are doing MDI some things you can try ( with help from your care team )...

New to Omnipod Dash & seeking advice

Hey @Bluemarine Josephine ..when i switched to omnipod it was a learning process that took a few weeks to sort out but my diabetic nurse was quite conservative in setting up the initial basal and bolus settings so the opposite was true for me and my sugars ran higher the first couple of weeks...
