What is the tdeal for a Type 1? I had a 24hr bp monitor and the doctor said being 130 approx in the day and 140 approx from 6pm to 8am (when I take meds)is fine. I also have glaucoma. So I'm worried tbh!

Not sure whether there is an ideal bp for a T1, other than not too high and not too low?

Looks like glaucoma experts also want you to keep some sort of happy medium?

I've been on varying blood pressure meds for over 30 years and so far my eyes and kidneys are holding up, though they have got some diabetic deterioration.

My doctors like the top level to be under 130 for much of the time. I think I'd have to get multiple readings in the 140s for my meds to be changed. (They have gone up and down over the years, mainly depending on weight and exercise.)

The DCUK main site says
Blood pressure target is usually below 140/90mmHg for people with diabetes or below 150/90mmHg if you are aged 80 years or above. For some people with kidney disease the target may be below 130/80mmHg. But it is important to speak to your healthcare team about your individual target.

But honestly, I think I would trust my doctor on this one, as long as they know you have both T1 and glaucoma.

Good luck

I am in the UK and type 1 for 53 years and aged 67... For the last 32 years i have taken blood pressure meds ( currently 3 ) and a statin to prevent high blood pressure and protect kidneys. My Endocrinologist goal for me has always been 130/80
