    Got my induction date!

Just got mine too! Looks like a I am only going to be a few days behind you. They have pulled mine forward because they are a bit worried that I am still no requiring any extra insulin, in fact, I am now on about half my pre pregnancy basal and the same bolus - and still having hypos every day...

    Post Pregnancy

Hi, I am a T1 diabetic and have been for 18 years, I am currently 35 weeks pregnant. I had background changes in my eyes prior to getting pregnant. I had had these for a couple of years, when I first got told there were changes, I was devastated. However, the specialist that I see told me two...

    Confused

Hi. I am now 34+4 and still on less insulin than I was before I got pregnant! I had a couple of odd days where I thought my insulin resistance was increasing but basically it was just large meals! The consultant said that they are starting to see this more often now, typically in slim T1s that...

    Got my induction date!

Oh wow!! That is so soon!! You must be really excited! Can I ask, I have been told that I will be induced at 38 weeks, is the polyhydramnios the reason you are being induced earlier? Ps I am going to write down everyone's tips as well! X

Polyhydramnios freaking out and crying :(

Up until the last few weeks, everything was going ok. Weirdly, I am now on LESS insulin than I was before I got pregnant. The more pregnant I get, the lower my blood sugars. They keep telling me that insulin resistance will kick in soon but so far no sign of it... I have had lots of extra scans...

    Constant Lows :(

In my first trimester, I felt like all I did was eat. Some days I was hypo all day. It is really common in the first trimester and will pick up once you are past 14 weeks or so. Just trust that it will sort itself out soon x

Polyhydramnios freaking out and crying :(

Oh Claire! I am so sorry that you are feeling like this. I can't offer any advice on polyhydraminos as I haven't had any experience. All I can say is that, as someone who is also 32 weeks pregnant, I understand how hard you have been trying and how hard it can be. Don't google too much! Most...

Increased placenta resistance - any advice?

Has anyone else had this? I had to spend yesterday in hospital after a few days of reduced movements. They did some monitoring and another ultrasound, during which the Doppler picked up that the Resistance index (resistance in blood flow to the baby from the placenta) was too high, basically...

    Shoulder Dystocia

I was concerned about this and asked my Ob this week. She said that it is not necessarily the overall size of the baby that matters, they also look at the ratio of head size to abdo circumference. My new Ob is fantastic about taking time to answer all my questions so I would just advise to ask...

DAU - lack of knowledge frightening.

Day Assessment Unit. They sent me there to have a scan reviewed as it was not a day when the diabetic pregnancy clinic was running. So basically you see a generic obstetrician and midwife and hope that they know something about T1. Which in this case they did not. It just made me worry about...

Dropping blood sugars - week 24/25

18 years ago so I think it should be pretty settled by now...well it was until baby came along anyway!

DAU - lack of knowledge frightening.

Had a scan yesterday and because of previous low sugar issues, my diabetic obstetrician told me that I should go straight to the DAU afterwards so that the scans could be reviewed/discussed. When I got there, they were appalling! I waited 2.5hours to be seen and then was dismissed in the...

Dropping blood sugars - week 24/25

Week 28 now and sugars still low! Am now on less basal than I was before pregnant. They can't figure out why. Baby is very active and all scans are totally normal - I had an extra scan two weeks ago to check the placenta and all was fine, then scanned again yesterday and all fine again. I guess...

Dropping blood sugars - week 24/25

Hi ladies, A strange one... I expected that by now my sugars would be starting to creep up and that I would need more insulin but the opposite has happened! For the last 10 days, I have had to eat a lot of extra food to be able to match my normal insulin and have even reduced my basal overnight...

Did anyone's existing diabetes complications worsen in pregnancy?

Hi, I am currently 24 weeks pregnant with my first. I had low level eye changes prior to getting pregnant and they have monitored these every 8 weeks. They haven't got any worse but even if they did, the Doctors have given me great confidence that they could catch and treat them early. I had a...

    20 week scan coming up

Update: had my Fetal cardiac and anomaly scans yesterday and all are absolutely normal! In fact, we had a lot of comments about what an active wee one we have. Met with my specialist and she is very happy with my levels, especially given the amount of travel we have been doing. Still no...

    20 week scan coming up

My last HbA1C was 6.2 but I think my sugars are now running slightly higher. I have never had a DSN, I have pretty much always done it on my own! We have been overseas for a few years with my husband's job but St Thomas' in London still oversee my care. They have been pretty hands off so far...

    20 week scan coming up

Hello again ladies, Have my 20 week scan next week and am starting to get really nervous. Over the last few weeks, I have definitely had a lot more highs (regularly having a 12+ each day and even the odd 16/18). What I don't understand is, at this point, are they doing real baby building damage...
