    Artifical sweeteners

"Some research has indicated that chemicals in the Stevia plant can drop blood sugar levels in a way that will limit the body’s ability to control the blood sugar level. However, other experiments have indicated that this is not the case. Those that have diabetes should carefully monitor their...

See you take Glipizide - Zircon? Did you find your weight going up? I was on just Metformin and lost 1.5 st which lowered my Ha1Bc, then had Zircon and quickly put all the weight back on and kept slowly putting on weight. It lowered my BS but increased my weight and after a year the lowering...

    Artifical sweeteners

Splenda is sucralose Which chemically is Sugar where they have replaced a H atom with chloride which makes it 200 times sweeter than the sugar it came from. Problem is it tricks the brain and makes you crave sugar even more. Most non natural sweeteners do. Don't use Yellow (sucralose)...

    Glucose Absorbtion Inhibitors Farxiga etc..

Maybe, maybe not.. If I was going to stay on a low carb for a long time I would at least pay for a gut flora check to make sure I wasn't replacing diabetes with another possible illness. IBS and C diff are lot worse. I'm sure low carb will work for some and not for others...

    Glucose Absorbtion Inhibitors Farxiga etc..

Not on Carb diet, but on low GI. Oats, bananas etc are low GI, but I eat it more to try to change my gut flora. It also stops me from getting hungry so quickly after breakfast. Ready meals porridge does increase BS as they have added sugar, but just plain oats shouldn't. If you don't tolerate...

    Glucose Absorbtion Inhibitors Farxiga etc..

Lived off just leek/cabbage soup no bread for 3 days. Still woke up with 13 if not on meds and went to 18 after having soup. Think the longer I have used metformin the less effect it has which wasn't that much in the beginning. Did lose weight (1.5stone) but put that down to the metformin...

If you are prescribed metformin then you qualify.. but if you can eat e.g. a Mars bar and are constantly under 9/10 when not taking any drugs (i.e. Normal) a GP might not prescribe you anything. Metformin and other diabetes drugs are a great strain on your liver, kidneys etc. GPs are under...

Hi, I was on metformin, lost 1.5 stone. but didn't help lower readings much so was given gliclazide too. In a few months I put the 1.5 stone back on and slowly kept putting weight on around torso. So did lot of research.. and initially asked for GLP-1 weekly injections but was told they...

    Type 1: Prescription fine

The reason they expire is that Diabetes 2 can expire/be cured. If you manage to keep your diabetes under 10 without pills/drugs you will lose the right to free meds. In the future even Diabetes 1 caught early might be curable. Ergo the certificates need to be renewed.

    Type 1: Prescription fine

The reason for the certificate is to prove that you are diabetic and not just someone one claiming to be that is trying to get other drugs for free. The medical exemption card gives you free prescriptions for anything. Viagra, Cialis, Codeine, you name it. These can be falsely claimed and then...
