    False pretences?

Hello and welcome. I've seen lots of people post on behalf of loved ones so no problem there :) This must be so frustrating and stressful for you because you can see that he needs to make changes but he's digging in his heels. I had never heard of Herbalife so looked it up. There are lots of...

Dec 2014 update: New research on the Low Carb Diet in general practice

The LCHF diet does involve dieters having a lot of faith in what people are saying it can do. The diet goes against just about everything we've been told to do. For people with high cholesterol or problems with their kidney function, it's even harder. I'm doing it and it's working for me (lost...

    Hba1c down from 58 to 39 in 3 month!

Yes diabetes is described as a chronic illness. Basically an illness that can be controlled but not cured (some of us are trying to change that definition! )

NHS Direct doctor says... NO testing when taking Metformin

I had a similar issue with my doctor. He was pleased I had managed to get my BG level down and I told him that was because I had learnt what to eat and what to avoid through testing. As soon as I mentioned testing his eyes widened and he told me I shouldn't test because that would cause me...

Hello Doug I'm having problems with my profile. It keeps resetting to type 1 even when I 'save changes' and it's confusing to other people. It's possibly because I set it up incorrectly in the first place but however many times I change and save it, it reverts back.

    Drink suggestions when out

Or Schweppes Slimline Bitter Lemon - that would be good because I could see if they were giving me the sugar free option too.

    Drink suggestions when out

Nice ideas, thank you! I'm not keen on Coke/Pepsi and once I'm pretty sure I was served full sugar version instead of diet version. But, I suppose diet lemonade would be an option. I think I'll go for soda water and lime (or maybe sneak some squash in )

    Drink suggestions when out

I don't drink alcohol normally (rarely I may have wine) and in the past when out socialising I've normally had orange or cranberry juice. I can't have those now  Has anyone any suggestions for diabetic friendly non-alcoholic drinks when I'm out? At home and work I drink coffee and...

    Three months post diagnosis

Well done on getting your hbA1c down! My fasting readings can also be high sometimes but other times they are ok and I haven't established the cause of the difference yet.

Going on about diabetes too much

I had thought I wouldn't even mention it at work, just quietly get on with it. But my work colleagues are a nosey bunch (we are a small office and have worked together for years) and me passing up the 10 am KitKat couldn't go unnoticed as it wasn't like me at all! Then all I had for lunch was...
