    Prediabetes? Type 2?

Hi all, My step dad was going for blood tests on Monday to check for diabetes amongst other things. I was diagnosed type 1 in January so as a bit of a pre-empt he asked if he could use my meter to give him a heads up. When he checked it was 1.5 hours after eating and he came up as 16.8, I...

Heart Beats measuring device: suggestions please

Hi! I have the fitbit hr and absolutely love it! I have an overactive thyroid so my resting heart rate can be very fast at times and this has been fab for tracking it and seeing if my medication is working before having to wait for my 3 month review. Two weeks ago I noticed that it had...

    I hate my weight!

You look a pretty similar body shape to me. I am 5' 10" so also quite tall. For years I was obsessed with my weight. When I was diagnosed I weighed 60kg, the lowest I'd ever been and thought that's what I wanted. After diagnosis I've put on 8kg. I hated it, so I switched to low carb and...

    Forbidden treats..what are yours

I'm a self confessed chocoholic! I was diagnosed in January and had a bit of a rough time trying to find a happy medium but I think I'm there now! For the most part i low carb, usually 6 days a week. One day, usually a Wednesday cause it's my day off I eat what I want, usually several bars of...

    Festivals?

Fellow downloader here. I was quite nervous about it. Only diagnosed in January and first festival since diagnoses. I coped way better than I thought I would! I had way too much beer and cider and managed to maintain relatively normal levels. Had a few highs but easily corrected. I think the...

Really really stupid - Missed Levemir dose

Another quick update! Check levels at 20.20 and I was down to 8.1 and just now I'm 7.6! Never been so glad to take my levemir! I will continue to check through the night. The reason I think I've lowered tonight is that I'm always more active at night. I have a desk job so tend not to move...

Really really stupid - Missed Levemir dose

Just a quick update! Home from work, checked levels and I was 20.9 so a wee bit better than at 4pm. Going to have dinner and I've taken 7u novorapid. Will check again at 8 when i take my levemir. Really really stupid - Missed Levemir dose

Thanks Andy, I'm actually realy annoyed with myself. After my nightmare time of it from what we assume was my honeymoon ending I've actually been doing really well and in the last week I have only had one reading above 9! Very frustrating. If it helps (and to help me keep track) heres my day...

Really really stupid - Missed Levemir dose

Thanks for all your advice folks! I'm actually amazed how quickly all the rubbish symptoms seem to come back. Sure I've had high numbers before for one reason or another but always had my basal in me. Maybe it's just the placebo affect but I feel so much more thirsty than usual. I'll keep up...

Really really stupid - Missed Levemir dose

Problem is I am at work now and my levemir is at home, I don't carry it around with me, just my novorapid so I won't be able to take it at all until I get homoe tonight, which won't be until 6ish

Really really stupid - Missed Levemir dose

I take 17u levemir at night at 7pm and then 15u at 7am. This morning my alarm went off to do it and at the same time my little boy woke up. I thought I'd go get him first and take my injection later then got caught up in the rush of getting him ready and getting myself organised for work...

    Festival & Background Insulin.

I'm going to a festival next month. I was diagnosed in January so a wee bit longer than yourself but it will be my first since diagnosis as well. I plan to reduce my basal slightly on the grounds that I will be doing loads of walking and jumping about. I'm taking plenty money to make sure I...

Having a hypo and trying to look after my 6month old

I just think myself 'lucky' I didn't get diagnosed till my wee one was almost 2, I remember the baby days well and it's hard enough as it is juggling everything a new baby demands without adding diabetes into it. For me it's all about routine, I know they don't conform to a routine as such but...

Having a hypo and trying to look after my 6month old

I was diagnosed in January and I'm a single parent to a two year old so I can understand all too well the difficulties of juggling diabeties and looking after a baby. It's not easy!! I find that having somewhere safe to put my little one for 5 minutes helps, whether it's in their cot, moses...

    Exercise & Diabeties

Thanks Andy. I'm a bit of a note fanatic anyway and after my nightmare time recently I've almost treated myself like a mini science project and have notes and results galore all logged in various forms (spreadsheet, notebook, app!) I'm just worried about the basal rates, it's took me this long...

    Exercise & Diabeties

Hi all, for the first time in my life I've signed up to join a gym and have my induction tomorrow night. I've know that exercise can lower your readings for up to 24 hours so I was wondering what advice, tips and things to look out for you can advise? I've had a bit of a nightmare time...

High blood but no ketone weightloss

Daibell I've been doing low carbs. since diagnosis I've been mainly low carbing with the odd binge (oops!) But since all this wonkyness I've been living on eggs, bacon, cheese and chicken to try and keep as low carb as possible. I'm not overweight, I'm 5'10 and just under 10st so don't have lots...

High blood but no ketone weightloss

After 2 days of this I changed both basel and bolus pens just incase so I don't think it's those. I'm rotating injection sites each time as well. I'll give it another day or two and if no improvement I will give them a call.

High blood but no ketone weightloss

Yup! It's scary! The week before all this I was on an average of 15 a day! I have this hope that if I can sort the overnight and wake up "normal" it will help make the daytime easier to control.
