    Diabetes MediAlert Tattoo

I've never really been a tattoo person, but would consider one with this ink... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-4587850/Colour-changing-tattoo-ink-help-people-diabetes.html Has anyone heard any more about it?

running a marathon with type 1

I ran my first marathon in London 2010 and I'll never forget it. I was 29 at the time, I was diagnosed with diabetes T1 when I was 4 years old. I found the training pretty challenging, not just because it's a long way but because the training is in the cold, wet winter months leading up to...

Running 1 Mile a Day Throughout March?

I was a difficult start. The rain was sideways, the temperature low, it wasn't a pretty run and my GPS froze. But, Scouts Honor, I ran 5km-ish.

    Half ironman nutrition for type1.

I find the the same happens to me, I come out of the water and I'm normally high, I tend to calm with the cycle but eventually drop a quarter through the run.

    Half ironman nutrition for type1.

A few guys in my triathlon club carry bagels on their handle bars! A peanut butter and banana bagel would give a good boost, if you can manage to eat on the go.

Running 1 Mile a Day Throughout March?

We did this in the days leading up to Christmas at my local triathlon club. Anyone fancy doing it throughout March? The rules are simple, run a minimum of 1 mile a day, everyday in March. Of course you can run more than 1 mile if you'd like, as long as you're running everyday. Proof would be...

    Any advice for T1 skiing?

I've been an avid skiier for years and love it! I'm also a Type 1 Diabetic and have been since the age of 4, I'm now 35. Last week I returned from a week skiing in Morzine. From experience the cold won't really have an effect on your glucose levels, not that I've noticed anyways. As a beginner...

    Type 1 and triathlon

Hi Max, No problem. I'm not sure where you're doing your Triathlon or if you've tried a triathlon wet suit, but they're different to a regular suit. One of the main difference being the floatation aids in the back; I was surprised how much they helped raise my body up whilst swimming. There...

    Type 1 and triathlon

Hi Max, Much like you, I've been a diabetic most of my life, diagnosed when I was 4, I'm now nearly 34, and like you I wanted to try a tri. I've completed sprint triathlons previously, but entered the Windsor Triathlon Olympic distance last month and really enjoyed it. The swim was my weakest...

    London Marathon 2011

Good luck Phoenix! I was diagnosed with type 1 when i was 4, I'm now 28 and ran the London Marathon for Diabetes UK last month.... It was amazing and it'll be a very long time before I get similar sized rush! It was tough work managing the diabetes through the race and for 2 days after I didn't...

    2010 London Marathon

I've just been offered a golden bond place from Diabetes UK to the London marathon 2010. I'm pretty excited about it and a little apprehensive at the same time - we're not even into 2010 yet! I'm running my first half marathon next week, i'm fairly confident about it and i'm taking it as the...

    Innovo come back

I've had several Innovo's in the past and I agree, they're the best injection i've had. They're no where near as robust as the aluminum novo pens but for shape and comfort when in the pocket of the my jeans I love them. They fact they tell me when I last did my injection is a major plus. I've...
