Transition to real food post newcastle diet

I revisited ND in October and shed another half stone. However, I overindulged in November & December (60th birthday & Christmas get-togethers) and put it back on plus a bit more by New Year. Recently I have tried 16:8 and am very gently losing the odd pound here & there, but nothing remarkable...

Transition to real food post newcastle diet

Just back after 10 days away in the caravan. Plenty of barbequed meat & salads with mayo. Some sauted potatoes too. G&T's and wine featured more than normal as well and the weight this morning was... drum roll.... The same as the day I went away! Yay! Result.:woot: Monitored BG readings while...

Type 2 bariatric surgery advice needed ...

Other, less sugary and more nutritionally balanced replacements are available I used Exante products. Others have used Shake that Weight. See this thread for the experience of people following a Newcastle Diet earlier this year. Good luck.

Transition to real food post newcastle diet

Well, the carb content was significantly more than I had eaten in over 3 months ... and significantly more than I intend to eat in the future.

That a meal like that did not spike me into double figures, which it almost certainly would have done previously. Secondly I don't think it was too bad a time for recovery to more "normal" levels.

Transition to real food post newcastle diet

We took our young son to Pizza Express yesterday for a treat (a year since we last went). Prior to going I was studying the menu online and planned a low-carb salad-type main course but in the end I decided to try a pizza and monitor the results - purely in the interests of science, of course...

Transition to real food post newcastle diet

I can understand that ... and I will probably do the same once I have lost a little more and ensured my BG levels are stable. I am only a few months in to this after all, compared to some of you who have been following this pattern for significantly longer.

I think your last paragraph sums up my personal concerns too. One day at a time I think. 30 years will take me to just short of 90, so that'll do me!

Transition to real food post newcastle diet

@Steve50 Massive congratulations. I know you had a minor setback in the last few weeks but have sorted out a solution that works for you ... the results are fantastic. I know that big internal & external grin feeling as you walked out from your appointment - the same as mine a couple of days...

    Want to try newcastle diet

This thread that started back in March shares the experiences of several of us who have undertaken Newcastle Diets with quite some success. It does now run to a lot of pages but a skim read will reveal a wealth of useful information as well as experiences of passing through phases you are likely...

3 month turnaround of T2 with Newcastle Diet.

Already migrated to LCHF 4 weeks ago. It took a few weeks for my body to settle into the new style of eating, but the weight loss has restarted again and the BG readings improving too. This is my longer-term strategy and when I reach a suitable weight and A1c reading I will gradually adjust my...

3 month turnaround of T2 with Newcastle Diet.

Exactly what I suggested the GP does to any of his diabetic patients in general. I praised the forum to high heaven and how it offered responsible advice & support for all types of diabetes sufferers.

3 month turnaround of T2 with Newcastle Diet.

Thanks to this forum that gave me the inspiration and information to make an informed decision about how to manage my T2 condition after ignoring it for 5 years I have: lost 3 1/2 stones; cut my HbA1c from 7.9% (63 mmol/mol) to 6.1% (43 mmol/mol); eliminated all diabetes medication; cut my...

Newcastle diet starting Monday, done it once who gonna join me on my journey??

Just thought I'd update this thread after today's GP visit - the first since starting the ND. HbA1c is 43 or 6.1% and he has agreed that the 1 Metformin I am currently taking per day is no longer required, so he has wiped all Diabetes medication from my repeat prescriptions, halved my remaing...

Transition to real food post newcastle diet

Yay! Just back from the GP's - A1c is 43 or 6.1% and he has agreed that the 1 x 500mg Metformin I am currently taking per day is no longer required, so he has wiped all Diabetes medication from my repeat prescriptions, halved my remaing BP tablet and we have decided to monitor my cholesterol for...

    Tips on a VLCD

I used Exante products, following their 600 calorie a day plan and lost 3 stones in 8 weeks. My (non-diabetic) wife joined me and followed a 1200 calorie a day plan and lost a stone and a half. We first ordered their 4 week breakfast, lunch & dinner selection as the variety it offered looked...

Transition to real food post newcastle diet

@brettsza , @Steve50 Hi Guys, I'm finding similar results to you. BG mainly in the 5's with the very occasional high 4 thrown in. I seem to have adjusted to this style of eating (LCHF) now and my weight is down marginally from the end of ND, 4 weeks ago, but only by 1 1/2 lbs. Had blood tests...
