Any advice using Omnipod on your arms?

Hi there, has anyone tried using the Omnipod on their arm? Did it work well or was it problematic? I've spent last few days trying to use the back of my upper arm as a site for my Omnipod, instead of my (trusted) stomach, just to give it a break! Initially seemed to go well, not too painful...

    Omnipod Users any advice welcome

Hi there, I've been on the Omnipod for a couple of years, and before that I was on Animas tubed pump for another couple of years. Following from Noblehead's post - (I'm by no means an expert on diabetes and pumps), but I do have experience of these two different types of pumps. Both had pro's...

    panic attacks

Hi Did you say you had ruled out hyperthyroid disease from hospital blood tests? For a period I felt super-anxious, palpitations, visibly shaking hands, excessive sweating......routine blood tests picked up "marginal" over active thyroid (consultant said it was only slightly out of range). Not...

What I like about being Diabetic

Too true Gemma6549 - and energy bills are already too high, so I consider the extra layer of self insulation a green, energy saving measure! I'm very environmentally conscious like that me.....;)

:hilarious: Thanks for making me laugh flowerpot - I would be exactly the same in the cafe situation! Lol Totally agree its like being at school when you get all the kit and organise it - another little plus! There is a quote about enjoying the small pleasures in life!

What I like about being Diabetic

Oh.....and I quite like trying to kid myself that a little bit of plumpness is okay as it makes cannula insertion less painful! ;)

What I like about being Diabetic

MMmmmm........nothing like free cheese. Let's start a campaign! ;) On a serious note, I like this thread too. Its all too easy to notice the negatives and forget the positives......I've often thought since my Type 1 diagnosis that insulin was discovered less than 100 years ago, which really...

    Friendly ear needed!!

Hi Kat1989 Sorry to hear what you are going through......you are not alone in that. I would echo what other people have said - just take one day at a time, and 'forget yesterday' as Carbsrok says. Try to recognise even small successes - like that you are trying, even that you are just...

Great Diabetic Consultants in and around Gloucester/Bristol Area

Hi there, I know this is an old post from 2014 but its been helpful reading as I am in the same position - considering moving to the Chew Valley and wondering whether to opt for Bristol or Bath for diabetes care. I managed to speak to someone at Bath Diabetes Team, who advised I might fall...

Am I a cynic? Strained Gp relationship

My prescription has finally been signed off by the GP today (what is actually in it remains to be seen) - what a palaver! Though I did have to make an appointment for a few weeks time for this unspecified review - I will see what is on the agenda then. Its hard to tell why I was unable to get...

Am I a cynic? Strained Gp relationship

Thanks for the advice Hannibalvolvo - I hadn't thought of writing to the GP, though it often works well in other areas of life as you say to have something in writing. I might well try that - particularly seeing my particular practice doesn't seem to have adopted electronic communication (and...

Am I a cynic? Strained Gp relationship

Hi Mattzuma, thanks for sharing your experience. Well.....my GP certainly gives the impression he thinks I am an idiot anyway, by the way he tries to fob me off all the time! Interesting to hear that you and others have successfully lodged complaints about your GPs. I am no shrinking violet...

Am I a cynic? Strained Gp relationship

Hi Grandpa Munster and TIms2000 I just read back to the initial thread by Munster and posted advice by Tims2000 with interest. I am not sure why I didn't manage to find this topic when I searched the threads, but anyway - found reading it very useful. And astounding about the insulin...

Am I a cynic? Strained Gp relationship

Hi thanks for all the replies. Shaggy1974 - I used to put in for six boxes of strips every couple of months (as and when I needed them) but found my GP would only give me half. At the last GP review my GP last year 'offered' me up to max of 150 test strips every month and said I needed to...

Yes - hopefully I will be able to have a similar arrangement with my new surgery, as interim HBa1c might come in useful. Thanks

Ps Yes - three strips a day is not near enough - on a bad day I could use that just getting to the GP surgery!

Hi All Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply. I should be visiting these sites more as its so helpful to read and relate other people's experiences. Wish i had done it before. All excellent advice, I read the letter from the DOH with interest and will use that. Sobering...

Hi I have had type 1 for ten years and never posted before, but keen to hear the experience of other diabetics about GP diabetes/medication reviews when under a hospital consultant for pump therapy. Hope this isn't too ranty! For years I havre gone along for my annual diabetes/medication...
