    1 Year On :)

Good Evening! Just a quick note to say that my husband has been diagnosed T1 for 1 year now and so much has changed! We were so scared when it all started, the horror stories, the hypos! It was dreadful. For the first 6 months the only thing that kept us going as this forum and that's the...

    How to gain weight?

My husband was diagnosed in April last year, after a couple of months we've gotten used to everything and Mike's doing really well. The only issue is that he's struggling to gain weight, he lost around 8LB before he was diagnosed and he's always been skinny but he's still losing weight. He's...

    Newly diagnosed - Type1

It is isn't it?! Because you want to take everything on board. I remember going to Sainsburys before Mike was discharged and buying whole meal pasta, sugar free jelly, sugar free cordial and digestives incase he had a hypo! That is literally all I bought I was that confused :P Hope you're doing...

    Newly diagnosed - Type1

One thing I forgot to say was definitely listen to your diabetic team and them only - when my hubby was first diagnosed and admitted to hospital, the nurses gave him so many mixed messages "Are you hungry? I'll get you some toast, toast is fine!" "You can't drink that orange juice, it's full of...

    Stupid McDonalds

    Newly diagnosed - Type1

Lovely to hear from you and I hope you manage to work out your levels soon :) I'm sure you will! My husband avoided all sugar for the first two months of being diabetic, now he eats pretty much what he wants because of carb counting and manages to keep his sugar around 6/7 - even after scoffing...

    Sugar

We have this problem when staying with my partners parents. They buy in really carby food (crusty bread, pizza etc.) and when my T1 hubby says he cant eat those types of food, they reply with "Yes you can, it'll be fine, stop being fussy." Drives me MAD.
