Need a little (or a lot) support.. Type 1 (it's a bit of an essay sorry!)

Your story sounds so familiar to mine. I was diagnosed age 16 (I am now 28) and up until very recently, denied myself of accepting diabetes. I hated knowing that a majority of my day would involve blood testing, injections, carb counting, more testing and corrections. However, unlike you, I knew...

    Pumping Newbie- questions

Wow you are very sensitive then! I thought 1.5mmol was bad enough. I've been known to go from 17mmol to 3mmol in little over an hour in the past.

    Pumping Newbie- questions

I honestly can't remember what the pump is called but only that it will come with a new meter which is a shame as I really like my Accu Check Aviva Expert but if it helps with control and my A1C results, I am all for it. I understand there is a lot of maths involved which is a bit daunting as I...

    Pumping Newbie- questions

Yesterday, I saw my DSN and dietician who spoke to me about a pump. A Medtronic one which would connect with a new meter. I'm not exactly sure what model it would be but I was told to ask about pumping and how it benefits people. I've had T1 for nearly 12 years and have really really struggled...

    bruises?

I was once given a tip to press down where you have just done your injection for at least 10 seconds and it prevents bruises. It works for me so may well work for you.

Type 1 Diabetes is killing me

I've just gone back and re-read the thread and seen you're in hospital now. You should start to feel better very soon. I was in a few weeks ago but the doctors didn't listen to me. I was in control and the contraceptive pill I was taking made me very poorly and I had to go in with sugars of...

Type 1 Diabetes is killing me

I could have written this myself. I have had this deliberating condition for 11 (I am 27) years and I still can't accept it. It has destroyed me as a person. I have little to no self confidence. I HATE my body for failing me. I can't stand the thought of injections every single day for the rest...

    Injection Sites

I freely admit I am guilty of sticking to just using my legs. I can't stand injecting in my abdomen and no needle is going near my bum! Question I have is, how do you inject in your arms when you're on your own? It's been that long since I used my arms but now my legs are starting to bruise...

    Accu-Chek Meters

I will have to look through the meter. I haven't really adjusted it since the rep I saw set it up for me a couple of years ago.

    Accu-Chek Meters

Oh I see! Sorry, like I said, I am no good with these. I only really know MDI lol I'll keep a close eye on things and try and see my DSN (another one I do know!) in the next couple of weeks

    Accu-Chek Meters

Hi- I have an Accu-Chek Aviva Expert meter. I really like it but sometimes when I have a high level, it doesn't bring up a correction dose. Not all the time. Only when the levels are in the high 20s and over. Anyone know what I can do about this?

    Readings at diagnosis

Mine was well over 30. I hadn't been well for a while and was thirsty all the time. I lost nearly 2 stone in weight and eventually just begged my parents to take me to the doctors. Did a urine sample and he confirmed it. I then had to wait with my Dad in the waiting room for what seemed like...

    Another Newbie- Type 1

Hello all. I'm Laura. I am 27 and have had Type 1 diabetes since April 2004. I am on MDI using Tresiba and Novorapid. I am a full time Mummy to my 4 year old daughter who thankfully has shown no signs of having diabetes. Not sure what else there is to say. I tend to keep myself and my...
