Type 2 Newly Diagnosed and confused

In case anyone wonders what happened to me ... well I'd been feeling very flakey and unwell but wanted to get some solar lights from a local garden centre. I didn't want to bother my son so did think about driving myself but he was willing to take me and just as well because when we got home...

Type 2 Newly Diagnosed and confused

Thank you both for being the voice of reason xx As I said, I am so confused with it all that, yes, I do tend to push the panic button. It really doesn't help when you look up things on the internet and they make you panic saying that you need to seek medical help immediately or go to Accident...

Type 2 Newly Diagnosed and confused

I have just had a panic attack as my blood sugar was 15.2. My morning tests before breakfast still haven't really gone down much since starting the Sitagliptin 2 weeks ago and are still in the 8s or 9s. Bearing in mind that I am trying to put on weight or at least stop losing it I had a piece...

Type 2 Newly Diagnosed and confused

Thank you for backing me up over the pain. As I said, I have had CT scans with contrast before but never as painful as those and I have never heard anyone else say that it was painful. I hate the thought that everyone might think I just made a lot out of nothing much but it really was awful...

Type 2 Newly Diagnosed and confused

Yes, that's what we did in the end and just as well as I was there from 9 am to about 3.30-ish. It was awful. The first canula they put in my upper arm wasn't in properly so all the dye went into the surrounding soft tissue and gave me a muscle like Popeye of excess fluid. It was so painful...

Type 2 Newly Diagnosed and confused

Yes, I've read that stress isn't helpful in anything but unfortunately "stress" has become my middle name. They didn't give me a time for my appointment tomorrow and I thought they were going to text me but didn't hear anything so got stressed about having to phone the hospital to find out...

Type 2 Newly Diagnosed and confused

Thank you very much for all your lovely comments and helpful advice. xx I woke up in the early hours of Saturday morning with chest pains so I called my son who came round and phoned for an ambulance. The Paramedics decided to take me in although they didn't think it was critical. So I ended...

Type 2 Newly Diagnosed and confused

After losing my beloved Partner just before Christmas and having problems with his Will (we had been together for 40 years but weren't married so I could have been homeless) I couldn't eat or sleep. I lost over 2 stones which is enough to put me into the ideal weight for my height. Then I...

    Over 40 statins as standard?

My brother-in-law and my husband were talking about Statins recently and my B-I-L said that he was on them and developed similar pains to you. He did his own experiment and stopped taking them for a couple of weeks and the pains subsided, started them again and the pains came back. He...

Radio 4 : Tony Parkes from Coventry

Sorry, when I wrote the above I didn't realise you had already had a lengthy discussion previously and already knew everything I posted. How are things now?

Radio 4 : Tony Parkes from Coventry

Interesting. I should imagine he probably uses something like Myfitnesspal to monitor his dietary intake. That's not some kind of magic, there are loads of others. As for what diet he followed, they are all on here, i.e. Low carb/high fat, Paleo, Newcastle, etc. and many of our members have...

    Sweet confusion!

I cut out sugar in my tea when I started lc/hf but even after 3 or 4 weeks I still wasn't enjoying a cup of tea so I started putting one Splenda sweetener in which was better than nothing. I've always been wary of sweeteners as I've read a lot about them being harmful but I've also read that...

how often should you change the lancet in your finger pricker

Seems so daft to me that they will give me 200 Lancets a month but only 50 test strips :( Wish it was the other way round. I used to change mine every time but just got lazy so frequently use the same one a few times.

    Thirst/Dry Mouth

Thanks everyone xx Now this has struck a chord with the Low Blood Pressure because when I was overweight (well more overweight) I was put on Ramipril for my high BP and as it didn't do a lot GP added Bendrofluomethiazide which is a water tablet. She warned me about having to go to the loo a...

    Thirst/Dry Mouth

T2 - Diet controlled - LCHF. Been on this since June 2015. When I was diagnosed (and ignored it) I had no symptoms like tiredness, excessive thirst or peeing a lot. The first HBAIC that I took notice of was 57 or 7.4% before starting LCHF. Three months into lchf it was 53 or 7.0% . That was...
