    Numb feet relief options

Good morning all, it’s been a while since I checked in. Nearly six years since diagnosis and my foot numbness has slightly increased in severity/frequency/duration. I’m doing the best I can regarding BG control (“average”, would be a generous descriptor). While researching daily self foot...

    Disaster - advice please

Checked into my hotel, 60 miles from home and I have forgotten to pack my insulin - all of it - pens and vial to refill my pumped set up. I'm in a meeting for the next couple of days. Must I drive home tomorrow or can I get a vial of insulin, without a prescription from a chemist tomorrow am?

    Me and my dog

Comrades Got me a dog back in September. Since then, my: · daily insulin requirement has significantly reduced, · BG control is much improved, · number of hypos has reduced, · peripheral neuropathy has dramatically improved and · teenage children are better behaved. It’s a b****y...

My neuropathy - some answers (at last)

Comrades The topic of most of my posts is my mystery neuropathy which appeared the day after diagnosis, two years ago. This manifests itself as a numbness in my toes which got progressively worse over the first year or so and appears to have plateaued. Two consultants and various DNSs have...

    New to Freestyle Libre

Comrades V excited to be trying out the Freestyle Libre sensor for the first time. I've only had it on for an hour and finger pricking tells me I'm just under 5 mmol/l. The sensor tells me I'm just under 3mmol/l. Is it usual for it to be inaccurate for a short while after initial...

    Neuropathy

Thanks again Maria. EMG late last year concluded that I had mild neuropathy in my feet. I've got another booked next month. Going to mooch around the interweb now for those slippers.

    Neuropathy

Thanks very much Maria. Looking forward to that. I've only been T1 since Sept 2015 and after diagnosis my weight continued to drop. Four or five months ago, I started eating much more to put the weight back on, without taking much notice of carbs. My daily intake was around 200g per day and...

    Neuropathy

Comrades I recently posted that Diabetes Forum contributors had helped me manage my diabetuc neuropathy symptoms. Unfortunately, the joy I expressed may have been premature. The unpleasant symptoms are slowly worsening and further nerve conduction tests are booked in May. Last night, I came...

    More good news

Now here's a rare thing - some positive type 1 news. I read Azure's advice (which questioned whether post-prandial BG spikes were the cause of my peripheral neuropathy) with interest. Following this I mooched around the interweb and came across a claim that probably applies to me, which was...

    More good news

It says a great deal for this site and it's contributors that I rapidly received two sensible, practical and potentially very useful top tips. This new development is massively significant for me, but unfortunately no one in my Team of healthcare professionals has suggested anything. Don't you...

    More good news

Comrades Sixteen months since diagnosis, with consistent good control and all HbA1c results less than 46 mmol/mol. So why, I wonder, have I just been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy affecting my toes. It’s a mystery to my consultant and DNS and it’s getting more severe with each passing...

    Diabetes and flying

Comrades I'm flying up to Glasgow on Thursday and plan to take my "Stuff" (insulin, needles, test strips etc) in hand luggage. I have a pretty poor note from my GP saying that I need my stuff with me at all times, but it isn't on headed note paper. Anyone had any difficulties with this type...
