Well Mike I have been type 2 for 11 years and I admit I am just a taxi driver but a great responsibility carrying passengers so I have changed my lifestyle completely to avoid that problem I am now free of medication if you can do it you will feel better but do keeping testing your blood.

Keep on dieting and watch your sugar intake safer bet is ice cubes and water and your weight will drop off lol

Sorry to hear about your tablets those side effects do go with Metformin if you have just started with Type 2 have you asked your doctor if you can go strictly on diet only and nip it in the bud now but you need to be stricter than strict?

Type 2 they say it is due to being excessively overweight no necessarily so.. It takes time to cut back on your food intake mind over matter believe me it is possible and of course watch your sugar intake and you will feel fantastic.
