got told off today by consultant :(

thanks for the replies & links guys, nice spectrum of opinions. not sure i'd get on better with another consultant, weirdly i do really feel safe and trust him (maybe cos he was the only positive person i saw at diagnosis). though i am planning on a move into london in the new year so i might...

got told off today by consultant :(

so i had my hba1c today which came back as 4.9% i know this is pretty low but i'm still getting use to insulin adjustments per meal and i tend to overestimate if i'm unsure. 4.9's gotta be better than 7 or 8 though right? but my consultant said there' no evidence that an hba1c of anything below...

test strips, alt place to keep 'em when out??

cheers guys, i just find the test strip boxes a bit big in my pocket, it's ok if i have a bag or coat, but with the fashion of skinny jeans having a box of strips in you pocket looks weird. if i'm in a club or something i don't really like leaving my stuff in a cloak room or a jumper pocket...

    Diabetics and insulin

i find my levimer works really well and when i have never worried bout night time hypo's since i got my dosage correct (i always sleep with bg's between 4-5). when i skip a meal my bg's remain stable so its just when i use my novorapid things get complicated (shame this is about 3 times a day...

test strips, alt place to keep 'em when out??

anyone know a safe place to keep test strips other than the pot they come in? (so they still work) cling film or something? just be nice not to carry the pot on a night out, cos the rest hides away quite well. i put a few in my wallet in a separate compartment once but the results seemed to be...

    Help with hypo's

last time i went to my consultant he told me and the gf to get a glucagon injection from gp. he said let her practice injecting you (with something else). apparently i didn't need to know about it cos if i was capable of thinking or doing it then i should eat some sug. i never bothered getting...

    Exercising

i'd reduce my basal dose a little after a day of heavy exercise or drinking. i always take a pack of glucose tabs to the tennis courts with me but find the best way to avoid hypos during is to eat my lunch for example and go straight out using only 1/2 the amount of insulin i'd usually require...
