    Good News :)

Back to the Drs today and it seems I had pancreatitis in the bit of pancreas I have left. Never had pancreatitis before but it's better that than what I was dreading. Unbelievably my HbA1c has come down to 50 so the reducing carbs (to around 100/150 gms a day) has made a difference. My weight...

Back to the Drs this am

I'm fine with eggs and regularly have an omelette or scrambled eggs for breakfast/lunch. I can also eat a croissant, they dont cause any problems. I've noticed that rice and pasta send my sugar high so I've (the wife has!) reduced the portion by half when I have them, but then I'm hungry. She...

Thanks for your replies. I can't do LCHF because I can't do the fats, I'm full after taking the handfuls of Creon ! I do eat a lot of veg but not any leafy ones, they cause problems, get stuck in the new joints ( can't remember what they are called ). I can't eat white bread for the same reason...

Hi folks, thanks for your concern. My pain has subsided and I'm feeling a lot better but my fasting blood sugar this morning was 10.2 ! I'm sure I need some treatment for this diabetes but GP doesn't seemed concerned about it. My weight has slowed down now measured in ounces per day instead of...

Back to the Drs this am

Well the Dr phoned Tuesday night and the good news is liver, kidney functions are OK. The bad news one of the tests was raised (didn't ask which one - just forgot to) and I've got to have repeat bloods next Thursday. Stomach pain has reduced in intensity but I'm still losing weight. I am eating...

Back to the Drs this am

Thank you for your hugs and best wishes. Dr took an armful of blood for a battery of tests but was unconcerned that my fasting sugar was 10.1. I'm not on any treatment for this diabetes as they (Drs) are waiting for my Hba1c to get to 58 before I go insulin, I think it's probably there already...

Back to the Drs this am

I've have had stomach pain since Friday night and I've just weighed myself and it's not good, I've lost 10lbs in a fortnight. I'm hoping it's the diabetes and nothing more sinister - keep your fingers crossed

Type 3c - how many are we?

I'm type 3c after having a whipple operation in 2013. Since then I've had to take Creon with every meal and it's been a challenge maintaining my weight. I'm still producing some insulin with what remains of my pancreas but have been told when my HbA1C gets to 58 (9.3) I'll have to start on...

    Diabetes Type

A c-peptide fasting blood test can help determine if your beta cells are dead or dying and a pancreatic polypeptide test can be done.

Travel Insurance when getting no treatment

I have recently been diagnosed as Type 3c, my HbA1C is now 49, my GP tells me I will need insulin when it gets to 58. I have not been told to diet (I have problems keeping weight on) and so far no other advice. My question is what do I tell the travel insurance ( I'm going away for 3 weeks in...

    Anyone type 3c ?

Hi Shar67, I'm was hoping that what's left of my pancreas will carrying on working for a bit longer. I haven't had a hypo, the lowest my blood sugar has been since I've been testing myself is 5.1, but once it's up it takes ages to come down. It's going to be interesting to see how often the GP/...

Hi, thanks for your reply. I still have some exocrine function but Ive been on Creon since my op in April 2013. Had problems maintaining my weight so my dosage was upped last year but now there's no 40000 available :( and I'm taking handfuls of 25000 at a time. My GP told me last week that I...
