    I'm all hooked up..!

I am a lady pumper and usually have it on my waistband. When I go to the loo I usually leave the pump on my belt or if my clothes don't allow it I clip it onto the neck of my t-shirt just while I am in the loo. Strange I know- but whatever works! Clare Bear

    Baked Beans!

Amazing! I'd never thought to bolus for the 'sugar only' value. Too late I already bolused but will try it next time. I can't see how it could fail. Thank you so much! Clare Bear

    Baked Beans!

Good for your heart, apparently. I am a T1, pumping and DAFNE graduate. Was advised by DAFNE and pump education sessions not to bolus for beans as they count towards 'veg'. However when I don't bolus for them- my levels go high. So, I tried bolusing the amount listed in the Nutritional Info...

Can I buy an insulin pump myself?

In my experience- if you want a pump and your consultant thinks you'd benefit, it's usually possible. Best of luck! Clare bear

Dawn Phenomenon made simple please ;)

@Dragonflye One thing I have been doing to combat the DP as I simply haven't had the time/inclination to test my morning basal. Two breakfasts! As someone who breakfasts at work I would suggest: Have a banana or something really little as soon as you wake up- bolus for it. This should fix the...

    Diabetic Houseshare

I don't think they exist- would you really want to live with other people with D? What kind of trouble do you have with night hypos? Clare bear x

    Cherry Active

Probably not, on the website it says it has about 25g carbs, 18 of which sugars. Unless you are doing it for the taste and balance it properly with enough insulin, please don't fall for alternative medicine quackery- stick to the advice of your diabetes team. Clare

    Frozen elbow?

Worth seeing your doctor. I had a sore elbow and it turned out to be an infection of the fluid filled sac around the joint. V painful indeed, mainly seen in people with D. Don't suffer in silence! Clare

    Badly researched article

Sometimes I Google search, 'diabetes' and 'news' just to see what's out there at the moment. Yesterday I found this article: http://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/lifesty ... _1_3428520 which includes this howler: "Type 2 diabetes can be treated with tablets and diet control. But if the disease...

    pump names

You're never too old to name your pump! I have been 'with' Pancreolό for 6 months now. Couldn't live without him. :D

    Funny feeling in my toe

Hi Joel, Looking at your fairly recent diagnosis and (very!) impressive HbA1c I would guess that the funny feeling you are having is unlikely to be D-related. It could be due to any number of things like maybe you did tread on something, or a blister deep under the surface. To put your mind at...

    nurofen

I think I also read somewhere that the Cold and Flu version of Nurofen contains Pseudophenedrine which may give your blood sugars a rise. I certainly found that when I was using it recently (that, and a combination of being ill). Anyway I see your post is pretty old..hope you are feeling better...

    T1 and Jury Service

I did jury service, kept testing and was fine. Unless you don't want to do it- don't let your diabetes affect you- it was an amazing experience and I'm so glad I did it :)

    New to the forum...

Partying with diabetes is not too hard :) I often find I go low the morning after so I reduce my morning insulin accordingly. Sometimes I get takeaways but ususally I just have a piece of toast and some soup when I get home (Cream Of Tomato, enough fat to line the stomach, enough sugar to keep...

    New to the forum...

Hi Eva:) I don't carb count at the moment (I think technically that makes me a bad person, especially in this forum). They tried to teach me at my previous clinic but I was at boarding school at the time and portion control and stuff like that was near on impossible. So this is my second...
