    The SCREAM thread

Time for a little moan. I did DAFNE 2 weeks ago and I am still struggling to work out my ratios. I’m up to 3:1 at breakfast and it’s still high, basal seems fine (32 levemir) and I’m 1:1 at dinner, lunch is tricky though, it seems to change. I’m constantly at 14 or so AM and then 5-7 in the...

Help Needed: Rising Blood Glucose Levels

I would get in touch with your doctor/nurse if you can! Have you started any new medications? Do you log your tests? And are you rotating your injection sites? Sometimes injecting the same place causes insulin resistance. It could be possible your honeymoon period is ending, especially if this...

A Year Into My T1 Diagnosis

6.8 is fantastic, keep it up! My first year was all over the place with three bouts of DKA and being hospitalized a lot, hitting the thirties regularly. So I'd say you're doing awesome! :)

T1 Low Carb What Should I Know

I would just say if you're gonna do low carb keep an eye on your ratios and background insulin if you start having hypos a lot. Good luck! I eat sort of low-ist carb on most days haha, anything from 20-80. I tried the stricter diets but I just ended up binging carbs out of frustration!

    Need Advice on Lowering Hba1c

Hey guys! Firstly I am on 32 units of lantus a day and I am doing 10:1 carb ratio with humalog, but I think it may change throughout the day. As for fear of hypos, I ended up in hospital a few times because of it, as well as for ketoacidosis where I was in a coma for three days in another...

    Need Advice on Lowering Hba1c

Hey everyone! I am needing surgery and after a discussion with the surgeon, he said he needs my hba1c to be under 70 and preferably under 50 in order to go ahead. Prescription Costs

Hey guys! Ever since I got diagnosed (17 years ago) I have had free prescriptions. Most my life I lived in Wales and had free prescriptions, dental and eye care. I have been in England for three years and I am honestly so confused. I am not on any benefits, although I cannot work due to...

So confused about blood sugar spikes

Update on this! I've managed to keep my blood glucose between 4-8 most days for the past month - my nurse was thrilled and I've been feeling much better about my diabetes! I had another inexplicible high this morning though! Woke up with 6.9 (Took 22 lantus - been dropped to that which fixed...

    Could this be neuropathy?

Just an update on this! The diabetes nurse thinks it could be neuropathy so I am worried about that, but I have a doctors appointment again soon (and one with the diabetology department at the hospital) to refer me various places to confirm/treat it seems. So I am in good hands!

    Diabetic hand syndrome

I'm T1 and I get very stiff fingers and wrists, was diagnosed with DeQuervain's syndrome in 2010 and had an operation on my right wrist - of course it came back again though, probably no thanks to my poor control!

    Chronic Fatigue and Diabetes

Hey guys, I am type 1 and have also been suffering from fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue for a couple of years. It only seems to be getting worse as time goes on and I am so frustrated! My CFS interferes with my diabetes management so much - I get so exhausted from normal daily routines that I...

    Smoothies?

Hey guys! I have a personal blender and am struggling to find any good recipes that are both diabetic-friendly and low carb! I know to avoid things like bananas etc, I have some frozen berries that I use in a small amount, but wondering if anyone else does smoothies, and what do you use? Thanks!

    Could this be neuropathy?

Hmmm well I take multivitamins daily and eat a lot of veg (kale and spinach especially). Though I remember I did have a potassium deficiency when I was in my early twenties though! I'm having some blood tests tomorrow too, I'm actually looking forward to my GP appointment next week because I...
