Delicious Christmas Cake Recipe (Low Fat & Sugar Free!)

I do get that Sid but it was just a slightly better option that some might have found useful. I also understand that I am one of the lucky ones for the carbs to not affect me too badly now I've lost lots of weight and keep up my exercise.

Delicious Christmas Cake Recipe (Low Fat & Sugar Free!)

OK - I agree that there is plenty of 'natural sugars' in my recipe. However, there is no need to have a cake with extra refined sugars added when you don't have to. Plus, the recipe also hA no added dairy or fats (apart from the small amount in the nuts) so it's a much more healthy alternative...

Delicious Christmas Cake Recipe (Low Fat & Sugar Free!)

I know that this sounds too good to be true  yes, low fat, sugar and dairy free  but EVERYONE who has tried this always asks me for the recipe as it really is delicious. If you use the optional brandy it really makes it really special. The original recipe is from my favourite...

Seriously Fruity (yet sugar free) Mincemeat recipe

I thought I'd share with you my favourite Mincemeat recipe which is fat and sugar free - sadly still high in carbs due to the dried fruit but still a lot more diabetic friendly than anything you can usually buy plus its ready to use in 30 mins. Here you go...... Seriously Fruity (yet sugar...

    pomegrate juice

Pom Wonderful is available in the fresh juice section of many supermarkets and is 100% pure pomegranate juice. It's quite expensive but very nice - I find that I just have a little and dilute it with filtered water or sparkling water for the occasional treat. Here is a link to the full...

What and when to eat before exercise - help!

Thanks for the advice Mike. I am indeed having something to eat before my swim if I go first thing and things seem to be pretty under control. I'm really enjoying the exercise (long may it continue - as I need to still loose loads of weight - I'm down 3 stone since my diagnosis in August so am...

What and when to eat before exercise - help!

Well I can vouch for the fact that this is true for me Lizzie. I did go swimming this morning but at 11:00 (I'd had breakfast at 07:45 ish) and didn't have anything else before. My reading after breakfast was 6.3% but after my swim it was 8.5%    . Think I'll have...

What and when to eat before exercise - help!

I have just joined a gym this week - a lovely early Christmas present from my parents - however, I would like a few words of wisdom from you lovely people. I want to go swimming fairly early in the day perhaps before breakfast as I don't think it would be a good idea to swim straight after...

    DESMOND debarcle

Thanks for the link Graham, I've not seen this site before. What astounds me is that everyone on the course had been diagnosed some 2 or 3 months ago, so if DESMOND is going to make any impact early on it should be early on. I would have rather had the cost of the day as test strips as that...

    DESMOND debarcle

Catherinecherub - your day sounds so much better than than mine. They wouldn't have tested anyone as they clearly against this in our area which is a shame as the figures were definitely something some of the group wanted to know more about. That would have been a great way of showing them how...

    DESMOND debarcle

The sad fact of this all is how little information some of the other diabetics there had. More than 50% had no idea about what levels they should be aiming for with their HbA1c results (although only 3 out of 10 had had the test). As for food, most of them seemed to have ramped up on the fruit...

    DESMOND debarcle

Forgot to also say that when I also mentioned the Dawn Phenomenon as my BS level goes up from first waking to when I actually eat (sometimes and hour or so) they told me it couldn't be Dawn P as that only affected children and teenagers.

    DESMOND debarcle

debarcle - def = A total, often ludicrous failure Apologies now for this being so long but I have so many niggles I just needed to vent to people who’d understand. Well, I had my DESMOND session on Thursday, haven’t posted anything since then as I wanted to calm down a bit as I found the whole...

Help - need advice about my fasting BS level

Thanks for your link Tony, yes I can see the same trend for me too. I will endeavour to test as soon as I wake up and try not to do anything until I do so for a truer reading. Spiral, perhaps someone on Metformin might know something about dosage and post a note here too for you?

Help - need advice about my fasting BS level

I too have a lot of weight to loose Spiral have lost about 15 kg since the beginning of August but still a long way (or should I say weigh) to go. Maybe I shouldn't be so worried about taking meds as I was with how positive you are on them, I thought it was going to be better for me to try and...
