I would love to be able to eat moderate amounts of carbs. I wont hold my breath though. I just need to get through the next 6 weeks and then we'll see

reversal or remission? 800 calories a day

Thanks Jim. So effectively it will never be a reversal, only ever a remission?

reversal or remission? 800 calories a day

Hi, I was diagnosed 3 years ago with an HBA1C of 97. I've brought my HBA1C down to low 40s (lowest was 37 but it's crept back up slightly) and I lost weight through LCHF but that is slowly creeping back on. I've not taken any meds. In order to give myself a kick start on getting my weight...

possible toe amputation - advice please

Thank you. They did some sort of test on it a few weeks ago and apparently there is still blood flow to the toe. He was given a course of oral antibiotics a couple of weeks ago and the toe was healing. However it got a lot worse early this week and is now down to the bone. He hasn't been given...

    Hello!

Hello Vickio I was diagnosed after a routine "well woman" test with an HBA1C of 97, but didn't have any symptoms. I had had Gestational Diabetes several years previously I refused to take Metformin and agreed with my GP that I would try to reduce it through lifestyle changes. I upped my...

possible toe amputation - advice please

Hi My dad is T2, in his late 70s and has had diabetes for almost 40 years and has been on insulin for over 30. He has chronic neuropathy in his feet, and regularly attends a foot clinic. I phoned him today and he said that the ulcer he has had for several weeks on one of his toes, and which...

    Blood Sugar Increase with Exercise

This happens to me too. If I exercise in the morning quite often my bs goes up not down. Also happens if I try and fast in the mornings - my fasting bs is usually quite high but comes down once I eat breakfast. If I skip breakfast it just climbs through the morning until plummeting just before...

19 Years Old, Worried about Type II

Wait until you get your test results before you panic. I think your anxiety is not letting you see things straight. When you talk to the GP please tell him/her about your anxiety. There may be something they can do. Being at uni is stressful. I have a 19 year old son in his first year at...

    My dad (again)

Thanks. I don't know anything about pumps so that explanation was useful. It doesn't sound like that would be an option. He doesn't carb count. Before being in hospital he ate quite a lot if carbs - big fan of baked potatoes and wholemeal bread. But he has really gone off food. Mostly eats...

    Confused

I get this. My morning readings are always high and if I skip breakfast they shoot up throughout the morning. Morning exercise also pushes them up. So I go to the gym in the evening instead. It's a pain as I'd rather go before work and have the evenings free, but my pancreas says otherwise.

    My dad (again)

And I'll suggest he talks to his DSN about a pump. So thanks for that suggestion

    My dad (again)

Thanks for all your responses. It is very frustrating. He is very capable of giving himself the injections, he's been doing it for 30 years, he just isn't keen so I don't think he would be eligible for care workers or nurses to inject him. He's very stubborn! He would hate to give up driving...

    My dad (again)

I've posted about my dad before but am looking for some more advice. Dad has had T2 since he was in his early 40s, and was put on insulin after about 3 years. He's now late 70s so has been on insulin for over 30 years. His diet isn't good and he doesn't follow the NHS advice about eating...

    Low carb products shopping recommendations.

Are you self catering whilst you're here? In which case most supermarkets do spiralisd veg etc. I buy Heck sausages, they are low carb. Have a great trip

Arghhh no - Lidl stopped selling High Protein rolls

Lidl is a commercial organisation. They will only sell what is profitable. If not enough people are buying the rolls them sadly, they will be discontinued. I'm gutted but also sceptical that a plea for Lidl to continue making them in order that low carbers can satisfy their bread cravings...

    High readings

Thanks for the replies. As far as I know he adjusts his insulin to cover his carbs. He's 78, still driving (I don't think he should be but that's another story) and socially active. But lots of bouts of illheath, permanently tired, dreadful foot ulcers etc. I'm really surprised that DSN are...

    High readings

Hi I am T2 and have things under fairly good control. However my dad, also T2, doesn't. He has been T2 for over 35 years and has been on insulin for nearly all that time. He recently told me that his readings are often 'quite high'. When I questioned him he said that they were often in the...
