    feeling ill

    Yup, it can go up and down...for example, I had an ear infection and my sugars dropped like a lead balloon...last week I had a strain of the Novovirus bug...and they went through the roof.. Lots of testing and amending the old pens dosage through ill periods..its not the easiest to control.

    I fly quite a lot long haul, I just a good regime of keep testing and trying to eat as normal and it gets me through. The airline meals have improved somewhat over the years, I don't order special meals as I am T1...last special meal I had was when I was a kid, they were rubbish so didn't bother...

    Go to your Doctors, see the Diabetic Nurse..they will provide you with the kit..and get a prescription for strips/lancets etc as well as a sharps bin.

    With the speed thing Matt, I agree...even with Novorapid, if you fire it in quick..it can/does hurt...I do it gradually, as with my Glargine at night, which is generally a bigger volume of insulin too.

    Have been a type 1 for 7 years now, before I was diagnosed I was a gym freak and sports nut...still am now. I find being around 10 keeps me ok, test right before I start and half way through my session and then at the end. Always have an energy drink with me. My workouts are between 1-2 hrs...
