    Porridge with dried strawberries...

    Try this: Porridge with one tablespoon of Cinnamon, sliced banana and milk. Cook as usual with the banana in. After simmering for a couple of minutes and while still on the stove, add two eggcups (or more as desired) of Whisky. The alcohol flashes off but the flavour is wonderful. Cheers one up...

    Simvastatin caution

    I had to give up Statins because of the usual problems, plus provable damage to my liver. I have been on Metformin since. Yesterday my Doctor prescribed for me Ezetrol. She reckons it works in a different way and my be better for me. Time will tell but ti may be worth asking your GP is Statins...

    Of course pickled beetroot contains vinegar which is said to be good for assisting in blood sugar control.

    HBa 1c and blood sugar

    I know this is really stupid but I can't see any relationship between the blood sugar levels I read on my own monitor and the HBA1c readings that appear in my regular tests and which the doctor relies on. Is 7.5 to 10.5 a reasonable range (I am 69 years old)? Also how long does "after meal" last...

    Fry up

    Canonelli beans are nice and very good for smoothing the glucose spike. I learned this at my diabetic cookery course. They are good in leek and potato soup too. Martin
