hello, thanks for your reply. I just checked the expiry date on my older testing strips and they are out of date!! But my testing results recently have always been consistent with how I am feeling. The dizzier I feel the higher the reading seems to be. I don't have many of them left & have...

    Metformin side effects

Hello, the nurse wants me to take 1x500g SR tablet per day, so I suppose its not a massive dose. I am fed up with feeling dizzy and thirsty. I need to lose a lot of weight which has piled on since being on hormone tablets. Thanks for your help and advice.

    Metformin side effects

Hello, thanks for your reply. I am worried about the long term effects and I may try and see how I get on with them. I need to get out and walking again though but with the virus everytime I went out people seemed to come too close and I felt uncomfortable. The nurse did say she would put me...

    Metformin side effects

Hi everyone, I joined this site about 5 years ago and found everyone so helpful and friendly. I was advised to buy the SD Code monitor which I did and still use but must admit I hadn't been testing regularly in the last few months. I followed the low carb diet and got my hba1c down from 70 to...

    cough & cold meds

Hi all, Ive had a very itchy tickly throat and annoying cough this week. I was checking all the sore throat pastilles out yesterday in Sainsburys pharmacy and even the ones labelled sugar free had almost 97g carbs per 100g. Does anyone know of any that are safe for Type 2 and also low carb...

Is Dry Skin A Symptom Of Diabetes?

Hi Fran, I do get very dry peeling skin around the nose, chin and forehead area. One of the things I find really helps is E45 cream, just shove it on and leave it to soak in for a while and then wipe it away. Hope this helps :) (Not sure if its a sympton of diabetes as it comes on and off, but...

    Snacks

I got some spicy seeds and roasted seeds last week by the Food Doctor. They were 50g bags with a total of about 5 carbs in the whole bag. Mine were 4 for £1 in Fultons but Tesco sell bigger bags. ;)

    LivLife Bread

Hi, I've bought this a few times from Waitrose. Managed to actually buy a couple of reduced ones once and freeze them but that is rare!! I like the grains in it and prefer it toasted. :)

Hello, funnily enough I had to go and see the same nurse yesterday for fitting of a blood pressure monitor. It was the first time I had met her face to face, previously was just on the telephone. She was quite nice to be honest but did lack some knowledge. My thyroid tests came back labelled...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Had a Lidl high protein roll the other day for lunch, cut in half and split, toasted then spread with Lidl soft herb cheese and turkey from the deli and thin spread of marmite. Hadn't tried the lidl rolls before, but was lovely. Had the same lunch the following day :)

    Retinopathy test - First

Hi John, I didn´t realise that Specsavers did them. I'm sorry to hear that you had a positive result but I have seen people say that they have tested positive a couple of year's running and no action has been needed yet?. I also read in my notes from the hospital that if they detect it earlier...

    Retinopathy test - First

Yes, I know what you mean about the NHS, I asked a question about a couple of things to the nurse/practioner who was performing the eye examinations and she just looked at me and gave me the Juggle leaflet and said apparently its quite helpful to other diabetics. That is the same info that the...
