What sort of strict diet are you following? Get yourself a carb counting book and try avoiding bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, cereals etc. Low carbing will really help to reduce your blood glucose numbers - sorry can't advise on medication

We successfully followed a low GI Diet for almost 3 years to control type 2 with diet and exercise - unfortunately, this has now stopped working for OH, so we have progressed to low carbing - no bread, potatoes, pasta, rice etc. Buy yourself a carb counter book so that you are aware of what...

What do I do?????? Help would be really appreciated!

Have had a 5.9 today!!! That is our lowest reading to date during the last 3.5 weeks. Still not happy with the fasting results first thing which tend to be around 8 - 8.5. Feel like I am constantly nagging with reminder to OH that he needs a little snack before bed to counteract the dawn...

No worries. It might also be useful if you keep a food diary alongside these readings so that you are able to ascertain what foods cause a spike and which foods are benign, if you know what I mean.

Try testing on waking up - a fasting test and two hours after each meal - these will give you useful/useable test results.

Thanks Catherine, that is certainly interesting reading! It would seem to make sense and might explain why he is not getting readings lower than 7 so far with low carbing. Although perhaps I am being too ambitious this early on with the low carbing - how long does it take for it low carbing...

Yey! Starting to get 7.6 after 2 hrs PPD and fasting results improving - around about 7. We are now nearly 3 weeks in to low carbing. What else can we do to improve? Any ideas welcomed. Does anyone use soya flour at all? What sort of effect does it have on your blood sugar?

What do I do?????? Help would be really appreciated!

After 1 week of low carbing, bloods are coming down to around 9 after 2 hrs ppd which is a huge improvement from the 15's & 16's we were seeing last week - but obviously someway to go yet! Seeing lots more 7's during the day as well now. So we are still experimenting with the low carbing and...
