    Dark Chocolate Recommendations

Went to Aldi today & they sell a range of Stevia chocolate bars. I've bought one & it's quite nice. Have to be careful with portion size though, as it can have a laxative affect.

How many naughty treats do you have?

So far since diagnosis in Jan, the only treat i've been allowing myself is a couple of squares of 85% choccy every now & then. After my next HbA1c in April, I will go to greggs & get a cream belgium bun.:D

    Oranges.....Good or Bad ?

Porridge is a funny one. Some can eat it with no adverse effects, other's can't (including me). I have to avoid cereals altogether as they send my levels into orbit, even though I have soya milk.

    Truvia

I made a low carb cake using Truvia. It was very nice, but there was a long lingering sweetness in the mouth afterwards. Not unpleasant though.

    Oranges.....Good or Bad ?

It may take a while to come down. It's took me about 2 weeks before I got single figures throughout the day.

    Lidl's high protein/low carb rolls

I've been eating these rolls quite regularly. I've only ever done a 2hr test, and they tend to increase by BG by 2 mmols, which is acceptable. Next time I have one, I'll do a 3hr test too.

    Recently diagnosed sort of

My diabetes was missed when I had a blood test last July (HbA1c: 55). It wasn't until I went for a recent blood test that I was diagnosed (HbA1c now 86!) I wrote a letter of complaint to the surgery & it is now being investigated. So, like you, I probably had a doctor who thought 55 was fine.

    triple zero stevia

I was diagnosed nearly 2 weeks ago, so i'm also new to this. At first you think you can't eat anything but it's amazing what recipes you can find online. I even invented a cake that not only tastes amazing, it has absolutely no effect on my blood sugars.

    Blurred vision

I've had blurry vision the last couple of days but have been reliably informed that this is due to me managing to lower my blood sugar levels and it will improve within a couple of weeks.

    Hi! Recently diagnosed Type 2.

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed T2 last Friday. Not on meds, totally controlled by diet. Apparently I have been diabetic since at least last July, but it went unnoticed by our surgery! And to think of all those pies & chocolate I was eating during that time:arghh:. Anyway, thankfully, no...
