How many eggs do you eat per week?

At least 7. If I am baking using Almond Flour the quantity can easily double although I wouldn't be eating all of anything baked

Things I wish I'd known when I was diagnosed with T2........

Re: Things I wish I'd known when I was diagnosed with T2.... That not every Type II can tolerate porridge for breakfast Cauliflower "mash" makes a really good substitute for mashed potato Almond Flour (ground almonds) doesn't make everything taste like marzipan That it can take a long time...

    sudden increase

This happened to me in March this year. I was always floating around 5's and 6's and a good work out could be relied upon to really get the levels down. Went through a load of nasty bugs and got equally nasty spikes to go with it. I know I spike when I'm ill and Doc tells me to keep testing and...

    foot care

Hobs, I agree you should get foot care treatment on the NHS but the reality as we know is different. My GP practice is very good in many ways i.e. I get testing strips without argument, but the chiropody is outwith the Practice and if you are deemed "low risk" then they don't see you again...

    Songs for the forum

You've Got a Friend - James Taylor (or Carole King) With a Little Help from my Friends - Beatles (or Joe Cocker) I'll Be There for You - The Rembrandts (Theme Tune from "Friends") I'm giving my era away with these :)

    Feeling Weird

My brother also had problems for a couple of days after his flu jab. The only time I had problems with it before was when they did the 2 jabs one for seasonal flu/one for swine flu. As soon as they went to the combined jab I was fine. Had a sweating attack but starting to feel a bit better now...

    foot care

I gave up on the NHS for my feet. I saw someone once but was deemed low risk. I had one major problem which was thick layers of hard skin (feet looked horrible) which was very painful to walk on. Doctor tried every cream possible but eventually I gave up and went to see a chiropodist privately...

    Feeling Weird

I have been having a very strange day. Recently, my dawn readings finally dropped into the 6's and have been around 6.1 / 6.2 for the last 2 weeks. After 2 years of the morning reading being in the 7's it was nice to finally get there. That's why I was surprised this morning to get an 8.4. Two...

    Recovery from illness

Hi There I'm a Type II but like you when I get ill I get very ill! I can honestly say that even a simple cold absolutely floors me. Recently, I had some kind of winter sickness bug and my readings went through the roof (well for me it was through the roof), Biggest spike was at 16.2 but happily...

Type 2's and blood pressure meds update :)

Re: Any Type 2's on blood pressure meds ? I'm on similar meds to you. I have Amlipodine and Bendroflumethizide in the same dosage but my 3rd pill is Lisinopril. I also have my own BP monitor and my doctor is quite happy to accept a print out of my home readings as, like you I get higher...

    GP - Low Carb Supporter

And I thought I had a rare and unique discussion yesterday! I was at the dietitian. I went armed with my eating records and was duly praised for my control and my low carb regime which "was obviously working for me". She believed my average intake at about 50/60g per day was fine and the only...

Liver Dump - Q for xyzzy mainly

Hi xyzzy This has happened to me a few times and it has been investigated before but we still have not found a common cause. When it first happened 1st thing the doc checked was my meds to make sure I was not having an adverse reaction but that was eliminated as a cause. Next thing I noticed...

Liver Dump - Q for xyzzy mainly

I did post this earlier but the thread is one which had been removed due to the Troll. In the thread on Liver Dumps xyzzy mentioned having a "turn" this morning and I asked what exactly happened? Reason for asking was I have had a number of "turns" in the past. We eliminated the medication as...

    Blood Sugar and Exercise.

This very useful link was given to me when I had a question on my BG rising after exercise. It is really helpful and xplains what happens in different scenarios. In my case I have to have a carby snack before the gym to get my BG to fall rather than rise. Nothing very much, just a couple of...

    Is My GP Serious!?

Bran Flakes & Milk - the carb and sugar content is just too much for me in one go. What size was your portion and what type of milk did you have? I think you may be surprised at just how many carbs and how much sugar is in breakfast cereals. You need to find out what works for you. For me it is...

    Face Tingling at 9.1

I too have had tingling in the face and arms. First time it happened we thought I was having a bad reaction to one of the many meds I was on but we eliminated that. We have now worked out it is sparked by two "events" 1) I have some form of illness coming on (my body seems to know before I do...

    Refused blood testing equipment

Reading these posts make me realise how lucky I am. I am on a repeat script for 100 strips & lancets and the surgery don't question how often I ask for a repeat. I have never had any problems getting them. I could test about 6 times a day when I was finding out what different foods did to me and...

    How to Carb Count?

I do my carb counting the lazy way - I use myfitnesspal.com. It does allow for home cooked food as well in it's database. I like the fact that you can see at a glance the breakdown of what you have consumed for the day. I do ignore the carbs it "suggests" for my intake each day as it tends to be...

    Rising BG After Exercise

No - not dehydrated CarbsRok. I drink gallons of water (well at least it feels like gallons sometimes). I always have my litre bottle of water handy and drink away at it while exercising.

    Rising BG After Exercise

Went to gym earlier today so it was only just over 1 hour past breakfast. I was at 7.4 then but I had eaten a fairly good breakfast. Got through my workout and thankfully back to levels dropping again as I was at 6.1 when I got home. I didn't ease off too much so it seems the food closer to...
