    codefree monitor EBay

I now have a codefree, once my GP stopped giving me free prescriptions fro my accu viva. I had about 10 strips from my viva when I got my codefree, and every time I tested with my codefree, I also tested with my accu viva. In every comparison, the codefree ranged from 1 - 1.5 higher than my...

    blood monitor

Jimmy like squire said, you will probably have to buy one, but make sure you do, because it will be your best friend, especially when starting out. It's so frustrating hearing the NHS saying we are in a type 2 diabetic epidemic, and our best line of defence is our meters, and they refuse to...

    New diabetic drug

From what I read on the home page of this site, it is being used in Scotland. Dont know if they are trailing it, or just trying to be progressive. :?

    Which do I believe

I also have the Accu chek aviva nano, but when my prescriptions stopped, I couldnt afford the strips, so I bought the codefree meter. I had some strips left from my nano, and everytime I tested with the codefree, I also tested with the nano to see how they matched. I found the higher my BG was...

To be fair to the NHS, any patient on insulin will get strips on prescription. It's only non insulin users that are refused strips

    HbA1c 6

My last HbA1c in August was also 6, and im very happy. Im on no medication, just diet and excercise, and if my Dr had of offered me medication I would have refused it. The longer I can stay off medication the better. But everyone is different, so it's up to the individual what they think is the...

    When to exercise

Hi 70f9raf, I go to the gym 5 days a week, Im usually there at about 08.30am. For breakfast I have full fat greek yogurt, with a few strawberries, and almonds at about 7.30. After my workout I dont eat again until 12 or 1 pm with the exception of a couple cups of coffee. I used...

frustrated with NHS etc - having a moan

I think the clue is in this sentence. You dont have to be as strict as the Atkins diet, but a low carb diet is possibly your best option. I dont think it has been proven anywhere that a LCHF diet is not healthy in the long term. Keep your head up!!!

    Diabetes Education...here i come!

Believe me Sharon, we have all felt like this from time to time, but giving up isnt the answer. As much as I Iove the food in a low carb diet, it can still get boring. My secret is, I never say I cant have any sort of food. If I want some chocolate, I will have it, but I will only have a small...
