    Disability discounts???

I think my question has been misunderstood. I’m not saying I need a discount more than anyone else. I’m just wondering how it works legally and within the system. I’m also not talking about one day out, I’m talking about being able to study for my degree. Also, you may not think that it makes...

    Disability discounts???

Thanks very much. I have been looking into theme parks with my pump too. Looking for a zoo membership. I study animal behaviour so I use Chester zoo regularly to study animals for my degree. However, my boyfriend likes to come with me as it’s a large zoo and I’ve had a lot of hypos from walking...

    Disability discounts???

I wouldn’t consider myself disabled at all but legally diabetes is classed as a disability so that we’re protected for employment, accommodation etc.

Type 1 daughter is she entitled to any benefits ?

Unfortunately, I’ve been unsuccessful with my application for PIP so prescriptions is all we get long term. However, if she’s planning to go to uni, look into a disabled student allowance. I got given a bunch of stuff to help me keep up on bad days including reimbursement for printer ink, a...

    Disability discounts???

Hi guys, Bit of a controversial topic! I was just wondering, considering diabetes is considered a disability under the Equality Act, can we get disability discounts ie cheaper entry to attractions? If so, how can you prove that? I’m certainly not saying that living with diabetes is...

    Has my insulin gone bad???

Good evening everyone - really need your help! My blood sugars have been consistently high for about a week - around 17-20 pre-meal and 11ish in the mornings. I live in uni accommodation and I came back after being home for a week to find the fridge wasn’t as cold as normal. Could the insulin be...

    Rashes around infusion site

Hi guys. Thank you for all your replies. As a first port of call, I stopped using alcohol wipes and just washed the area with a flannel and hot water before doing the set change. The rash has gone completely!!!

    Rashes around infusion site

I do get lumps as well so maybe it’s a similar reason? I’ve never heard of that before but I’ll look it up and give that a go. Maybe I’ll mention the steel cannulas if that doesn’t help. Thank you so much!

    Rashes around infusion site

I use alcohol whops but no barrier creams or anything. I’ll have a look for those. I didn’t know they were available. Thank you!

    Rashes around infusion site

Hey guys! So my DSN can’t solve this one, but I’m sure you lot can!!! I keep getting a rash around my infusion site. It’s not too itchy but I just want to know what it is. It comes up around 24 hours after a set change and goes about 24 hours after. When I do a new set change, it appears in the...

Cannula irritation - prevention suggestions please.

@Snapsy Thank you very much for starting this thread and to all the amazing advice to follow! I'm allergic to plasters and have similar reactions to the adhesive on my MiniMed quicksets. I've got scars from every single infusion. I didn't realise there was anything I could do about it and...

    Sertraline

Hey guys - My doctor has just prescribed me antidepressants. She said that the one she had given was the best with diabetes. I've just picked up the pack of sertraline and there are so many warnings about blood sugars in the leaflets. I'm convinced she said another name when she was writing the...

    Really struggling

I'm testing 5 or 6 times a day but using Freestyle Libre CGM to see the patterns. All the readings and carbs are stored in the pump.

    Really struggling

There's a period at 2-6 pm where they're perfect 5s! Other than that, I wake up on a 13, after going to bed with enough insulin to bring me back to 7 so I'm not sure where that goes! I correct and never come down below 10 unless I go for a walk and fall to 8. As soon as I eat lunch I'm around...

    Really struggling

Thanks for all your supportive messages guys. You're all right in that it wasn't the best time, but unfortunately it seemed like the better option than doing it months before I went off to uni - although I'd been waiting nine months that would have been perfect times to start! I have emailed her...

    Really struggling

Hi everyone, I hate to rant and I don't wanna bring anyone down but I'm really struggling at the moment. I've been t1 for a year and a half and I don't think I ever really came to terms with it. Obviously I got into the monitoring, carb counting and injecting routine really quickly, so I...

    Set change disaster!!!

Good evening guys. I've been on my MiniMed 640G for a month now and I was getting so confident with set changes. Until today... Just had a very frustrating change and I'm not sure what happened! Hope someone can help explain these problems. First of all, I had to use three reservoirs. Each...
