    pregnancy and metformin

I've had two pregnancies whilst taking metformin, the first I was given insulin, the second I controlled well enough to do without. Have you been to a diabetic antenatal clinic yet? Your levels seem well controlled, check out nice for the guidelines in pregnancy. Just found out number 3 is on...

    Newcastle diet journey

Hi Sugarbabe. I managed about 5 weeks and lost about 1 1/1 stone and my glucose readings were getting better. Unfortunately a combination of personal problems left me turning to 'food' although not to the extent I would have done previously. I am away this weekend but have ordered enough shakes...

    Newcastle diet journey

Well, sort of got my head back in gear, just the occasional wobble. 4 weeks done, 1 stone gone so that's 1st 5lb since the start of September. Must keep going and keep my hand out of the treats! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Newcastle diet journey

Week 2 done, feeling disheartened. Was out on Monday and suffered a migraine attack, blurred vision, slurred speech, the lot. Quite scary when you've got two small children in your care. So my irrational brain told me to eat. Admittedly I could have done a lot worse than the jacket potato and...

    Newcastle diet journey

Thanks mongoose, fasting bloods down to 7.9 having stopped metformin, not bad for just one week in! I only test first thing, should I be doing more? I'm sure the slimfast shakes will send them sky high after meals! Fish and chips sounds good, think you are allowed a treat after all that time...

    Newcastle diet journey

Mitsi, glad to see you have lots of energy, can't wait for that to happen! Yesterday was day 4, it was tough, was craving food badly, although I think it's mostly all in my mind! Motivated myself by going through my wardrobe and pointing out everything that will look and fit better once I've...

    Newcastle diet journey

Thanks guys, good to know I'm not the only person doing this, my friends think I'm crazy! Think I'll stick to the ready made slim fast, easy to grab as I'm out and about with the kids a lot, even if its more expensive I'm not spending on food so not costing me anymore. Amazed at my will power...

    Newcastle diet journey

Hello! Been a member of this forum since diagnosis in July 2009 but don't think I've ever posted?! Started Newcastle diet this morning, weighing in at 15st 7.75lb with fasting bloods of 11.1. Using slimfast bottles (superdrug has them on 3for2) and hoping I can find enough ways to make...

Type 2, pregnancy and metformin. CONFUSED!!!!

Heeeeeeeellllllllllllllllpppppppppppp! Diagnosed type 2 last July with hba1c of over 13! Now managed to get hba1c down to 6.7 taking metformin and sitagliptin, and if i'm honest my diet hadn't been quite as controlled as it should have been, nor have i done much excercise so that's mostly down...
