    LCHF for t1

Has anyone else had good results trying out a low carb diet to help control blood sugars? Just thought I'd share this - I've tried for 5 days really watching my carb intake, and I've had the best blood sugars I've had in - well, since I can remember! I've written a bit about it here...

    lantus vs levemir

Thanks :) yep i've registered for that before - to be honest all was find and going well before the change, but have just been struggling since!

    lantus vs levemir

thankyou! that looks helpful :) am trying to contact the DSN to discuss further, talked about the possibility of a pump last time we met but there are a few things I need to do first (e.g. DAFNE course - which I REALLY want to do, the waiting list is just really long!). Thanks for the help

    lantus vs levemir

Interesting to hear you had a similar experience! How long did you stay on Levemir for before moving back to Lantus? Before I swapped my DSN said if anything I was taking too much basal insulin - so am reluctant to keep taking more, but obviously will do so if I need it!

    lantus vs levemir

Hi yep I carb count but for example even just eating a salad now (with no carbs) my blood sugars are starting to rise and I had to do 2 units of novorapid, whereas back in the lantus day no rapid would be needed and I'd have no rise. Just struggling to see the benefits and wondering if for some...

    lantus vs levemir

Hi everyone! I've recently swapped from 34 lantus once a day to 18 units twice a day of levemir (have increased my overall dose to 36 units as am having problems!) I eat low carb but am struggling to have the same control as I have with the lantus with the levemir and find myself running alot...

    Freestyle Libre and airport security

Hi! Just wondering if anyone has had any experience travelling with a freestyle libre on - was it ok through airport security or did you need an extra/specific doctors note for it?! Also did the security scanners mess up the readings at all? Thanks!! [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using DCUK...

Petition for Freestyle Libre on NHS

I know for me the past couple of months with the libre have been life changing. I've never felt so positive about my diabetes and know for a fact my hba1c will be much lower. I don't think the cost difference between test strips and the libre will be that much, especially if you factor in the...

    High bs after morning exercise

Thanks all, really interesting stuff! Yeh my bloods were perfect at lower bass last week but are being a nightmare this week (nooo clue why) so am upping it everyday but still waking up much higher than I'd like and can even see it creeping up over night. Interesting about the protein shots - I...

    High bs after morning exercise

Just wondering if anyone has tips re why this kind of thing happens - wake up at 6am on a bs of around 8/9 (not great I know), had bacon for breakfast (so no carbs) and my 28 units of lantus. Then went for the gym for half an hour and bs soars up to around 14? Trying to exercise more to help my...

    Running question

Yep I don't think there can be any hard and fast rules, body seems to change every day! Ended up doses 2 units of rapid and ended around 7 for lunch so sort of worked today!

    LCHF questions

Hi! I personally wouldn't inject on a carb free meal like that so may be an idea to review your basal/Levimir amounts if you are spiking like that?

    Running question

So does this mean if I'm running at bg's around 10 after exercise (which is currently my situation!) should I correct for that spike or will the body correct itself in time and use up that energy do you know?

    LCHF questions

Ok thanks! I think I'll will continue trying with a low carb diet and exercise! Since having a freestyle libre I've been able to monitor everything much more easily too so hopefully can keep up the good numbers this way. Thanks for the advice!

    LCHF questions

Thank you both! Sorry I meant nutritional ketosis instead of natural (shows how much I know about this...!) May I ask if you personally Keto or just follow a low carb diet TorqPenderloin? A low carb diet definitely helps my blood sugars and I feel like it is a realistic option for me, but sounds...

    LCHF questions

Hi! I've been looking into LCHF diets for Type 1 diabetes and am quite interested in giving it ago, although have some questions and wondered if there's anyone here who understands it better than I do that may be able to help! For example - if by low carbing your body is in a state on natural...

    Libre difficulties

Hi! I've had my first one on for a week now and noticed the edges peeling last night so have taped it down with 'rock tape' to try and make sure it stays on. I've also ordered a free sample of torbot skin tac adhesive wipes (the MG healthcare website offers a free sample of 2 if you want to try...
