    Hyper symptoms

Hello. I'm experiencing quite a number of hypers - the insulin just doesn't seem to be working! I've changed all the cartridges and pens but still no improvement. The only way I've been able to reduce bg to an acceptable level is by exercising. I imagine it's due to slowing down for the holidays...

    Type 1: Bad Diabetic

I think this guy probably knows what the implications of poor control could be. The fact he is reaching out and asking the question suggests he wants to improve his control and awareness of his condition. He certainly does NOT seem to be burying his head in the sand. I agree, to minimise the...

    Does quality of insulin change?

I have had the same problem since last week. My readings seemed to had settled after months of combinations of doses and different types of insulin. I started a new pack of NovoRapid cartridges and a Tresiba pen with Dutch writing and stickers on them and I'm back to square one as I'm unhappy...

help with improving my diet ?

If that's as 'bad' as your diet gets, your doing great I think. Bless you. Apparently beans pulses and seeds are a good start as well as lots of different vegetables. Maybe a multivitamin might help as well.

    Can I change consultant?

You're absolutely right. Maybe it had been a bad day for whatever reason. I will give it another go with her. I'm not looking for a relationship, just for my diabetes to be overseen with a positive attitude and outlook.

    Can I change consultant?

I feel for you Jane. Well done on your results. I had halved my a1c since diagnosis but this went totally unacknowledged at my last appointment. I don't need a pat on the back from anyone but this SHOULD demonstrate to anyone with their head half screwed on that I'm being responsible and taking...

What to eat for breakfast that has carbs but will not cause BG spikes

Depends if you're after savoury or sweet. Chickpeas are a good option for carbs I find. Maybe something like this; http://thealmondeater.com/2014/10/single-serve-egg-chickpea-breakfast/. The possibilities to modify this recipe is quite good, eg. Bacon, vegetables etc. For a sort of sweet...

    Corrections

I constantly run high, especially in the morning, for example this morning two hours after waking and before eating my reading just now was 10.6. I use the Aviva Expert system which worked out a correction on top of the carb calculation for breakfast, which should bring me back down to a...

    My super cat

My cat helps my wellbeing massively. Feelings of anxiety and stress go away when I spend time with him and I feel happy. Surely this helps with controlling my diabetes. Another reason why cats are super.

    Hello! Type1.

Thank you for your kind words Capngrumpy. I have changed over to Tresiba as my waking levels are still high and was given my Hba1c bood test result which was 57 or 7.3 which I was quite happy about. Still could be better but that's something to work on. For the positives there are the negatives...

    Hello! Type1.

Good afternoon, I'm Robin. In October 2015, at 29 years old, I was diagnosed as a T1 after being taken to hospital with what turned out to be DKA and pancreatitis, for which I spent a week being treated. Five months on, I still feel stupid for not recognising the symptoms and even more so by...
