    Trajenta (Linagliptin)

I’ve been on it years now, with no problems at all. Could just be your body getting used to it, so I would give it a few days and if you still feel u sure, talk with your healthcare professional. HEalth Anxiety? Tell me about it, I’d probably feel better without that added complication

    Reducing insulin

Thank you ladies, clear answers at last. I never knew you could adjust down as well as up. I am on Insuman Basal, 36 units a day but because of other health conditions and drugs taken for them, plus age, my fasting levels are higher than most people, rarely below 10, often 14. Daytime ones are...

    Reducing insulin

A simpe question.... is it safe to reduce insulin a little if blood sugars reduce and stay low? Can't ask my nurse as she is the only one we have and is on annual leave! And anyway, would rather go to those who really know about diabetes, ie the patients. Thank you.

    It's a minefield!

Thank you, this has given me confidence to try the thighs for a change, and to be more flexible about where I can inject, hough the right side of the abdomen is out as I have a lot of scarring there.

    It's a minefield!

I am on a whole load of other meds as I have four chronic illnesses as well as the diabetes. I am thankful this all happened later in life when I had done all I wanted to do and was looking for a quieter, simpler way of living. HaHa

    It's a minefield!

Lucky you, not everyone can follow such a strict regime for other medical conditions that are life-threatening and have to come first. And not everyone wants to live on animal products.

    It's a minefield!

I only started on insulin, once a day low dose increasing every fourth day by two units, ten days ago, but already the area around where I inject in my abdomen is sore and uncomfortable. So I thought maybe I'd give my thighs a go with injecting, but on the various forums, when I raised this...

Sky high blood sugar levels on steroids

I don't know how long you have been on Prednisolone but I've been on it thirty odd years and it has caused no end of problems with skin and other issues. However I have to take it following a renal transplant in the mid-80s which has given me all these years of life I wouldn't have had. They...

    Carb intake

Thanks for responding, but can I now ask those of you on a Very low carb intake, how the heck you manage it and what do you eat? I am due to start insulin tonight

and am confused. I saw the nurse this morning and she told me what to do, how to use the pen, but when I read the info from the manufacturers o the pen, it was different. She didn't mention anything about setting it to 2 and tapping to rid the pen of any air and making sure I got the full dose...

    Newly diagnosed and totally confused

The 50mmol she mentioned is the figure the nurse wants me to achieve, the meds aren't doing much good any more as I am at 124, hence the need to start insulin.

    Confused.me

numbers, what do they all mean? My nurse said we should get the number down to 50. Fifty what, her explanation didn’t help me much, mainly because within a few minutes if her telling me, I’d forgotten! It’s an age thing.... And if any of you have routine appointments with diabetic nurse, are...

    Newly diagnosed and totally confused

There is so much information out there, and misinformation from diabetics who follow their own path...it’s confusing to say the least. I find the figures confusing... for example, my diabetic nurse said she wasn’t my number to get down to fifty. Fifty what, her answer confused me! If any of you...

    Confused

Lightheaded, particularly when erect, it eases when I sit. Trembly. Headache. Tired. A bit nauseous when the lightheadedness comes on too. Don't usually check my own levels, for me nothing to be gained because if they were high then I'd worry and with other chronic illnesses to think about...
