Green & Blacks sale in Tesco

A while ago, I bought several bars if Cuisine Camino 100% baking cocoa at a really good price. Then I tasted it... But, not wanting to waste it, I experimented and found that cutting it into small bits and sprinkling a bit if Stevia-based sweetener on it made it quite tasty. Adding some nuts or...

    Low Carb Hasn't Worked.

This comment was in reaction to seeing a post recommending "intermediate fasting." But it showed up after my previous post instead! Sent from my LG-H831 using Diabetes Forum mobile app

    Low Carb Hasn't Worked.

I think you're referring to intermittent fasting, but your spell checker thinks it knows better. Sent from my LG-H831 using Diabetes Forum mobile app

    Low Carb Hasn't Worked.

Fascinating conversation. I had very similar results after a HbA1c reading of 6.1% 2 years ago. Lost 18 lb on low carb-high healthy fat, but after a couple of months, my FBS was unchanged, in low 6s. So I started walking a minumim of 10,000 steps a day, and immediately started seeing FBS is 5s...

To lentil or not to lentil pt2

Sounds yum. My husband is allergic to "true" (red and green/briwn) lentils, so I substitute urad dal, moong dal, or channa dal, depending on the other ingredients.

I have a proper brain ache!

A couple of lower carb solutions to the lasagna and other pasta problem are broiled or pan fried eggplant (aubergine) or zucchini (courgette). Both quite yum. I often also soak tofu-skin bows in boiling water and untie them to get very thin lasagna-like sheets to put on top before finishing in...

    HBA1C & FBG Who controls who ?

    P.s. I'm in Canada, so in UK terms, that's a HbA1c of 40.

    HBA1C & FBG Who controls who ?

Recently (past 4 months or so) my FBS has been pretty consistently in the low-to-mid 4s, so I was rather taken aback when my latest A1c came back as 5.8, higher than when I was battling to keep my FBS in the low 5s. The few post-prandial tests I did were lower than before as well, so I thought...

    Something fatty and sweet?

Sounds yum. Should also work with coconut oil instead if butter. (I especially like coconut oil for its built -in sweet taste).

    Something fatty and sweet?

Virgin coconut oil with cocoa powder and stevie or Splenda, plus some desicated (unsweetened ) coconut for crunch. Or tahina (sesame 'butter') with sane if with brown (unhulled ) sesame seeds. Yum!

    Meat and cancer

It's the nitrates and nitrates often used to preserve processed meats that have been implicated in causing cancer. So it's best to look for brands without these ingredients (readily available in Canada, and probably also in the UK).

    Healthiest diet for prediabetes?

I appreciate the reminder about Omega 6 FAs. I do eat a lot of soy (mainly tofu and some soy milk, not the oil) and sunflower (seeds and butter, not the oil). Is that okay, do you think? I have another question - I hope it's not too far off topic. I'm one week before facilitating a weekend...

How Do I Access My Notes?

The tracking tool appeared again out of the blue, when I signed in to the Low-carb program for the first time in many months in an effort to find the rest of the 17 Low-carb foods for my"shopping list." The food list was nowhere to be seen, but tools for tracking everything from FBS to weight to...

    The NHS T2 Treatment Regime

Whoops! I accidentally deleted my reply along with the "empty" one I meant to remove. Here goes again: I found the most useful bit of advice in Mosley's 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet book for me was his recommendation of a minimum daily total of 10,000 steps. As soon as I began that regime (last...
