    Freestyle Libre

@Bill_St - excellent advice, agree with every word! VITAL to remove any trace of either oil or sweat or water etc from the skin before applying the sensor. Holding the sensor for a couple of minutes down before removing the applicator was necessary for me personally to ensure that it sticks...

Type 1 I am finding that I wake up during the night in a hot sweat but don't know why.

Also, do you have Libre/CGM? I'm just wondering if you might be catching hypos in different stages, if you don't have some means of continuous BG monitoring/recording. I.e., some nights you might catch a hypo in early stages (3.5), and others - later stages, *after* your liver has released...

Type 1 I am finding that I wake up during the night in a hot sweat but don't know why.

Sometimes, night sweats could be a symptom of the autonomic dysfunction, which is one of the long-term complications of diabetes. You said you were diagnosed in 1983; I seem to recall that the autonomic dysfunction ("neuropathy of autonomic nervous system") is more likely if there's peripheral...

What does the UK leaving the EU mean for us?

Yes, and... I'm not talking individual cases here, and of course there are exceptions to any general tendency, but... Statistically speaking, who is more likely to meet the requirements you have listed. I.e.: 1. Engage their customers with warmth, 2. Work hard in the job that has a feminine...

    What to do?

    1. You are not "in trouble" with your Diabetes Nurse. Or this forum. Or "the other" one (I agree with paulliljeros, BTW). And no, your mum can't stop you from buying energy drinks - and she really shouldn't. You are legally an adult, and you can abuse your body any way you want: no one...

    DM management app????

Thank you, Tim! And no, Pipp, you didn't crash my thread. I just wanted to point out the significant matter, because I wasn't sure if you were aware of the difference.

    DM management app????

Ahhh... As far as know, T1 and T2 tend to have different apps, too, just to complicate things a little bit further. Those without DM, and with no loved one affected by DM really have zero understanding of the fact that working on DM control is a second full-time job. Only you don't get any...

    DM management app????

Hi guys, Me being me ( ie, Aspie), I want to use an app to bring all DM information together. I know I can use diasend, but it doesn't have ability to easily record exercise or period or stress. Animas should allow you to integrate a food database, but I'm still working on it. So, food...

What does the UK leaving the EU mean for us?

Risking putting my foot into my mouth again, but... Any coffee shop etc would hire ANY girl over ANY boy. I don't think that has anything to do with your son's skin colour. It's just how it works, imho. I have been on a few conferences over the past couple of years: Nottingham, Manchester...

I'd better join the Tories, and fast!

What does the UK leaving the EU mean for us?

Hi, I'm sorry: I took the last sentence in your previous post literally ("I'll look after myself and mine..."). Apologies for completely misinterpreting your previous post. I don't get sad when I see something sad - I get angry. And I have been angry plenty recently with many Leavers...

What does the UK leaving the EU mean for us?

Ahem. Yes, "Democracy entitles all to vote". The problem with people these days is that we have too many"entitlements" and not enough "duties and responsibilities". The ability to cast your vote in a democratic process is a civil right, civil duty and a great civil responsibility. It is NOT...

What does the UK leaving the EU mean for us?

I have not seen anyone with Type 1 diabetes on a dialysis machine, either. And never met anyone working in dialysis department in my city, despite being a doctor in the NHS. Still, I'm pretty sure they are not lying to us when they say my city has one of the best dialysis unit in the UK, or...

What does the UK leaving the EU mean for us?

agreed. I just don't understand why does Cameron dig his heels in, ruling out the possibility of the 2nd referendum.

What does the UK leaving the EU mean for us?

CHARMING! Said like a true Leave voter. Who cares about the world - or even just the neighbours?! Smart people look after their own interests, right? All this stupid **** like love thy neighbour.... just turn our back on the world, close our eyes, lalalalalalalala.....wow, that felt good...

Are you Diabetic or diabetic? Work with me on this one...!

DIABETIC. Diabetes does affect every aspect of my life: because I always have to think about carbs and insulin, wherever I am, whatever I do. And I think it is much healthier to be DIABETIC than to be diabetic-in-DENIAL. As I had been for 5 years.

Type 1: Blood Sugar All Over the Place Really Need Help Adjusting Levels

    1. Definitely, definitely need to sort out basal. Ask your consultant for degludec: it IS literally flat cover over like 48 hrs. My experience: levemir is the worst basal insulin, glargine is way better, but degludec is really the way to go. 2. You can re-introduce sugar into coffee later...

    Freestyle Libre sticker problem

I've regularly had problems with the adhesive: I either bump it off, or scratch it off in my sleep, etc. I also had a weepy sensor wound after the first few sensors. Plus, because water can get to the sensor metal wire through the central hole, it would not read BG for 10-30 min after a bath...
