    Thanks for your input. I have no noticeable side effects of Metformin, however while taking Metformin, B12 and Serum folate levels are reduced considerably. Not good. Having to take folic acid.

    When can I stop taking Metformin

    Having reduced my Hbac1 to 41 from 49 and lost weight(more to lose yet), when should I stop taking metformin. Am I able to use diet and exercise alone to reduce my HBAC1 further. I take 500mg twice a day. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Wow.... Have lost 8kg since December 18 doing lo-carb diet. Just had another Hbac1 test. It is down from 49 to 41.[emoji4][emoji4][emoji4]

    This is so interesting and helpful. My last HBAC1 was late November 18 and was 49. I am due to have another test in the next few days. I take 500mg Metformin in the morning and at night. I have been following a low carb diet since early December and have lost 8kg. I m hoping the new results...

    Why is it that if I forget to take Metformin at night, my levels are always lower the next morning.

    Thanks, the 49 is mmol , as we use the same units in NZ. Will do the readings for a couple of weeks. Next blood test is end of February

    My Hba1c at the end of November 18 was 49. It was a wake up call for me. I had been taking 500mg of Metformin, morning and night for nearly two years. Fell off the wagon big time !!! However now totally back on track, following the Lo carb diet. Have lost 7kg since November. I walk between 4-5...
